Not really riled about it, don't agree with what is being spent on it etc but it is a moment in history as well, and plus I am nosy.

Marc 17-04-2013 09:54 AM

Yeah it definitely is a historic moment.

Of course closing the roads/spending whatever amount of money on this is wrong when she could've had just a family funeral but she was a big figure in the UK, this was bound to have happened. I'm pretty neutral on this matter, I don't despise her/want the funeral to go wrong neither do I want it to be shoved in people's faces and have loads of money spent on it.

I am appreciating the momentus lengths our country can go to to remember somebody. It's moving and makes me feel proud, regardless of who it is.

Well that's fine, I'm absolutely of the opinion that her family and friends deserve respect and do hope the funeral goes well, but after everything that has gone on in the last week I feel a lot of it has been an attempt to stir up more anger from her detractors in the hope of making a political point should anything kick off...I agree with Vicky on that. And for that reason I think the government and media will only have themselves to blame if it does, but of course it'll be spun into a crusade against the demonstrators and any real points that were made will be ignored.

This is a lovely service.

Jesus. 17-04-2013 10:14 AM

Thatchers granddaughter isn't bad at all.

Jack_ 17-04-2013 10:30 AM

haha Thatcher mentioned a compassionate society? lul

Jack_ 17-04-2013 10:32 AM

How much coverage and interviews have they given to protesters? I'd hope a fair balance considering this is the BBC, but I shan't hold my hopes up after the Ding Dong censorship

Vanessa 17-04-2013 10:34 AM

Who is the young man sitting in the front row? Her granson? :conf:

Jack_ 17-04-2013 10:39 AM

Man I hate religion

I do like crowd singing though, it's uplifting, even if the lyrics are...well, not to my taste. Only thing I like when I have to attend a Church service

Wonder if they're going for the full racist version of Jerusalem.

Vanessa 17-04-2013 10:52 AM

I really love this song. I find it so moving.

MTVN 17-04-2013 10:52 AM

Which part of Jerusalem is racist?

GiRTh 17-04-2013 10:53 AM

I'd rather watch Cash in the Attic.

Jack_ 17-04-2013 10:54 AM

I do find it amusing that whilst all this is going on the ticker banner on BBC News has 'unemployment has increased by 70,000 to 2.56million - with more than 900,000 people out of work for at least a year'. Slightly ironic given whose funeral this is

Vanessa 17-04-2013 10:55 AM

I think the service is finished. :suspect:

I've got my hymns mixed up, so I was completely wrong about it.

I will try and dig it out now, as that's going to bother me.

Vanessa 17-04-2013 11:03 AM

So many stairs. Imagine if they slip!
