I know what you're saying, Callum will be fine teaching wise for all those reasons.

But my point was that it was Callum himself who said he's holding himself back because he doesn't want anything to come back and bite him on the arse when teaching. Jackie just pointed out if he felt that way why would he make a VT the way he did? It's a contradiction of his intentions.

Sorry I thought you were on about going on BB in general

Did Callum say anything about being worried about his career prospects before Jackie started going down his neck about it?

Roy Mars III 10-07-2013 01:15 PM

It is odd. Callum said that after the show he would have to go away for a year or so because all the press that came with the show did not befit someone who wanted to be a teacher. Yet he makes that VT to get into the house

No he started that conversation talking about his plans for teaching, where he was going etc. Then the viper stepped in with her ridiculous comment( confidence draining as usual) and as usual the daft sap backed down and agreed with her. He needs assertiveness training and fast.

Perhaps at the time when he made the vt he wasnt sure he was going to be a teacher? I dont know.
We can all look back in hindsight.
I do think it is a bit hypocritical calling some one on their vt when you yourself are not been genuine to your own vt. Both Charlie & Jackie are not true to their vt's either.

He should just tell her to sod off, he's explained his reasons, she can believe or not believe thats up to her.

CaudleHalbard 10-07-2013 01:23 PM

Maybe he thought his VT would just get him on the show and would never be seen - other than by the production team.

 No, just the people who jeopardised their jobs by their behaviour.

Nope, that was my point. Callum mentioned the reason he comes across so reserved is because he doesn't want to do anything to wreck his career. Prompting Jackie to, quite rightly, ask why he'd make a VT like that if he was so concerned about it.

No, they film the actual VT's specially for the launch show. And any idiot knows that they film your early auditions as well to use as clips.

If he thought they'd never be shown he's a bigger fool than he looks especially given that BOTS and the other spin offs always take the p out of these things.

Ultimately, Charlie is the product of Jackie's parenting. The best thing Jackie could do for her is cut ties and keep her venom to herself. Over time it's actually becoming more and more uncomfortable to watch a mother who has obviously spent 28 years emotionally blackmailing and manipulating her offspring continue to do so for a global audience.

And you got all this psychobabble from them being locked in a confined space, filmed 24/7 and only edited highlights shown?

"clutching at straws" springs to mind.

It's hardly psychobabble. No reasonable adult parent speaks to their 28 year old like that. Control freaks do. How many HEALTHY adult families do you know where the 50 something mother still treats the 20 something child like a 12 year old? It's not like they're rare or anything. They line up in droves to do trashy talk shows.

Jemal 10-07-2013 06:34 PM

She started on Callum today aswell

Jemal 10-07-2013 06:41 PM

“@BBUKLive: 4:41pm: Callum asked Jackie what her issue with his VT was, and a mini fracas has arisen between Charlie & Jackie! #bbuklive #TotalTraversty”
“@BBUKLive: 4:44pm: "I'm not sure about the real you...you're Mr Too Nice, why are you being like you are?" says Jackie to Callum. #bbuklive”
“@BBUKLive: 4:48pm: So Jackie thinks that Callum doing the washing up too much is evidence of his being a martyr. Maybe he just likes it? #bbuklive”

With eviction coming up she thinks shes being so entertaining, when shes just being annoying and being a prick. Even people that like her on twitter are starting to get pissed.

sampvt 10-07-2013 06:45 PM

Maybe Jackie thinks that acting like a teenage muppet on crack will give her a video deal or a chance on Strictly. Who the hell wants to listen to a geriatric energiser bunny with more cellulite than my gran. She needs to learn a lesson from this show....when kids grow up....LET THEM GO FFS.

I just don't think you can take enough from a television reality show where a mother is looking out for her daughter to deduce she is a control freak or make your wild accusations about how Charlie was raised. It's such a completely false and heightened environment that it's impossible.

We can form judgements/opinions on the housemates behaviour in the house from what we see of course but to form these wild presumptions about their entire lives outside of the show is uncalled for to be honest.

Having a wank on TV didn't stop Glynn from pursuing a teaching career.

Are you suggesting that only in the house is Jackie rude and condescending towards her grown daughter, overreacting to everything she says, and trying to cower her into silence when she speaks? When Jackie makes comments about "you always (insert negative criticism here)" she's only said those over the past 3 weeks? It's not rocket science, nor is it psychology, it's basic common sense.

I never said that. I said this is a unique situation where everybody's personalities are magnified x1000. They don't live under each other 24/7 in the real world, so they're regular lives would not be like this. Nor do they live with a bunch of strangers that they have to deal with whilst being filmed.

So taking the exaggerated and 45 minutes of highlights to judge how Charlie was raised or how their relationship functions outside is misinformed IMO. She's going to be more protective of her daughter when they're in this kind of environment.
