To be honest i think it was more Jackie that ended their closeness. Early on they were flirting with each other and she was sending out interested signals.

Jackie was the excuse Charlie needed to do a runner.

Maybe. I think whilst she doesn't actually want either of them, she likes that they want her. She doesn't like how that manifests, but she likes the fact that she is the object of their desire. That's my reading anyway. And, y'know, I can see how that would be very flattering.

I suspect she'd be quite hurt if they stopped chasing her.

If that had been Dan out there being tanned by two gorgeous hunks he'd have flirted away and nobody would have said anything bad about that. Just as nobody saw anything wrong with Sam flirting with them.

Because people find callum creepy, they see everything he does in that light. Even when he is standing next to someone else who is doing the exact same thing.

Of course she does everyone wants to feel wanted by others the difference between the 2 is Callum comes of very desperate in his pursuit of her where as Dexter respects her personal space.

This^^^^
Charlie has no interest in either of them, she just wants them to make her feel good.
You can see sometimes how she really, really wants to get away from Callum though when he is invading her personal space. He gets too intensely weird - like when he was asking her 'What do you see when you look in the mirror'...
He comes on so personal and deep that it's inappropriate and I don't think Charlie is the 'deep' sort. Their personalities just don't gel and Callum needs to give it up.

I agree that she has to her credit told them that she is not interested in them romantically and she did that early on. What annoys me is that she lets Callum believe that they have a really close friendship and that she loves their deep conversations, and adores him but to the girls has said that she wouldn't even have contact with him on the outside.

It's not really a sexual thing, it's a false friendship that she seems to be stringing him along a bit with. She actively participates in all these deep conversations, in all the cuddles and friendly affection, says things to him like "you really understand me" "I love our chats" etc and all in all acts like they have a very close friendship that she enjoys.

When really behind his back she likes him so little that she said she wouldn't even keep contact with him outside, and also has nominated him more than once.

I might have been wrong to say that she strings Dexter along because I think she may have told him that she didn't fancy him, but I thought Dexter was under the opinion that that Charlie just won't talk about these things in the house.

I think she just loves all the attention of both of them, and it's always handy to have a few people who you feel you are guaranteed safe from nomination with.

That's a good post actually, agree with quite a bit of that

It is just the typical bandwagon. Dan never stopped calling Callum as creepy, cringy and something not quite right about him. All of it untrue.
Since when was being decent and kind a bad thing.
As for parading about half naked noone did more of that than Dan. He saw Callum as a threat.
Emma Willis did not help either by jumping on the band wagon. I thought she was meant to be neutral. She should not have a favourite to win.

Jords 30-07-2013 12:13 AM

Charlie is extremely 2-faced with Callum! This is the second time shes come straight out the DR after nominating him and went and spoke to him first.

Callum IS cringy and there is something not quite right about him. Dan was 100% correct, as usual.
To say Dan saw Callum as a threat is possibly the least insightful, and therefore the funniest statement I have read on this forum. :joker::joker::joker:

Aside from his time in the DR, Callum has spent the last hour and a half either whining about Charlie nominating him, whining to Charlie for nominating him, or complaining about how it's all Dexter's fault ("because he's a weasel"). Meanwhile, Dexter has been talking alternately with Hazel, Sophie, twins, Charlie and Gina about all kinds of things, with Callum or Charlie only coming up as subjects when Charlie was talking to him about Callum.

Of course he is for god's sake!!!!
Dexter mentions Callum occassionally while Callum doesn't shut up about either Dexter or Charlie or both!

He sounds like a man on the edge of a breakdown!

Callum isn't 'loyal' to Charlie he's just madly got the horn for her! Add the insane rivalry with Dexter for an explosive mixture. Callum is trying to brainwash her with his drip, drip 'I'm the only one who understands you', 'I'm the one who's your biggest fan' etc; it's all about what he gives/does for her. In return he hopes she'll give him time and eventually sexual intercourse. As drunk as we've seen Charlie, there's never been any suggestion that she'll give in. Meanwhile she's lapping up the attention with the added bonus that Dexter and Callum's interest is useful strategically.

Oh Christ why has Charlie gone into where he is and started chatting

Is Charlie not allowed to talk to anyone in the same room as Callum anymore?

Lister of Smeg 30-07-2013 12:52 AM

The facthat Dexter never got nominated by Charlie but he did is what really bothers Callum he wouldnt have cared if she voted for both of them but because she only voted for him you can bet Dexter will be labeled everything under the sun now by Callum.
