You mean keep your true feelings hidden...and then reveal them accidently like ron did on the mic...

Not at all.
It's just that I see a but to this and really,I think you ought not to presume my 'but' is or could be in any way offensive, thereby then almost being offensive yourself.
I stated that people have to be careful what they say on TV on what can be perceived as likely sensitive issues.

I think it best left there and it is an issue now firmly and rightly dealt with as to Ron and BB too.

The phrase "Uncle Tom" has also become an epithet for a person who is slavish and excessively subservient to perceived authority figures, particularly a black person who behaves in a subservient manner to white people; or any person perceived to be a participant in the oppression of their own group

Are you seriously calling me an Uncle Tom because i said i don't mind jokes about my own race?

Are you saying that everyone who laughs at a racial joke about their own race is an Uncle Tom?

Or do you just limit your judgment to black people?

People these days hear a word.... Think, ooh that's a bad word and might be offensive even though im not offended I must complain to Ofcom which then makes that caller a racist....FACT.

Religious/Racial words can be used any in type of cotent or situation where racism is 90% not the intention of those words being spoken.

Just banter.

I can picture him now in the privacy of his home or with fellow racists making highly offensive statements about Blacks, Muslims , Polish or anyone who isn't what he deems to be....WHITE.

What a caveman...a real neanderthal.

Furthermore..BB have really messed up with the 'warning's this year...e.g

1) Gina should have recieved a final warning for that disgusting 'race' card she pulled within five seconds of an argument she
was losing with Jemima and instead warned Jemima!!

2) Carol Mcgiffin warned for repeating a bad word when she was merely describing what happend and then bb themselves repeating it!

You missed the ones about how Gina and Dexter should have received warnings for their sexist comments. Both racism and sexism are covered under the equality laws - both are discrimination.

DanaC 25-08-2013 10:52 PM

he hasn't been physically removed because that would be a gross over reaction.

He clearly didn't intend offence. A warning was fair enough. Now he knows that joke crosses the line for what you can say on national television.

That's the whole problem..there dosen't seem to be any acknowledgement that what he said is wrong...just a ticking off like a child ...crosses the line???

you mean he should keep his his nasty views but just be careful when to use them?!!?!?:conf:

Which he is entitled to do. How do we know what you think about in the privacy of your own home? Are you trying to control and legislate against people's thoughts now?

Well, no. I'd much rather he abandon such thinking altogether. But it is not the job of Celebrity Big Brother to re-educate people nor to fight the good fight against racism. It's an entertainment show. It has certain responsibilities and one of them is ensuring racist language and humor is not used within the house.

A lot of people engage in such humour without really considering what it is they're actually saying with their jokes. Challenging that humour is good (imo) and healthy. Pillorying someone for lazy stereotyping and unintended offence is less helpful. Better to explain why it is offensive and then let them ponder that.

People don't change their minds on something because you go in hard, They change their minds because you give them compelling reasons to do so.

it says on your profile, you were a fan of gina...how did you feel about that disgusting and cheap trick she pulled on jemima when she played the race card?

Abz offends me with his faux Jamaican gangster wannabe accent, can I report that to Ofcom? It's nearly as bad as Tim Westwood's FFS... You're white and British, get over it!

actually abz is half turkish..maybe he thinks talking like that is paying 'respect' to his north london upbringing..despite being a drama school boy called richard!!

DanaC 25-08-2013 11:11 PM

Well, I didn't actually see that :p I came into the series several days in.

I read about it. Thought it was pretty sad. I didn't much like her calling Hazel a slut and blaming her for being a 'home wrecker' either.

People aren't perfect. I'm quite capable of liking somebody despite some of the stuff they say and do.

she was one of the nastiest pieces of work to appear on the show and you seem like an intelligent person too..so i'm confused why you liked her.

Brucie , have you ever heard of something called 'The Plot' ? I think you might have lost it.

DanaC 25-08-2013 11:31 PM

There were facets of her personality that I liked.

Pincho Paxton 25-08-2013 11:52 PM

I find the opening post offensive. There is such as thing as anti-racist-ism. Which is to be so opposed to racism that you yourself become an instigator of bad relations between ethnicities.

Anti-racist-ism? I knew you wouldn't disappoint me.
