I couldn't take Boris seriously at all at the conference today, in fact it was as if he was drunk.
Just rambling on and on with utter nonsense.

This is actually a very poor conference.

To be fair, I don't think people think doing the job for a fair wage is what's degrading or humiliating, it's being dressed up in a high visibility jacket and sent out to do it for the equivalent of £2.50 an hour that's degrading. Pretty much any job paying £2.50 an hour is degrading.

Also the people doing this job currently aren't even particularly low earners in most areas. They'll for the mostpart be council employees, and can be earning £10 - £12 or more per hour (as well as getting double time Sundays, paid bank holidays off, all the other things that anyone in the private sector saw sailing off into the sunset years ago). That's not to say that they shouldn't be earning that wage; it's a FAIR wage, and one that means that these men probably have financial commitments that won't easily be covered if they lose that job, even if they DO find another full time job - because the replacement will no doubt be minimum-wage slog that barely covers the combined cost of housing, council tax and utility bills.

Labour must have left quite a bit of money really since this Govt has been able to squander so much on NHS across the board reforms, pay ATOS massive amounts to re-assess benefit claimants, continue to add to overseas aid and also to find vast sums for the involvement of the UK in Libya.

No doubt they would be able to have found a great deal more for any conflict as to Syria too had they got their way on that one too.

So it seems the coffers weren't bare after all and that was a 'con'.
They really must think the voters are thick.
