The senate won't be the problem, they will pass it, it's the house that needs to pass something. John Boehner has to decide whether to follow his tealiban party into the abyss, or rely on Democrats to help him pass something sane.

This is not an end to the shut down only a pause. Part two in January.

With 144 votes in the House of Representatives against a last minute deal we can only surmise that the Tea Party are still considering themselves in the ascendant.

John Boehner will lose his seat now with a victorious Tea Party challenger in the primaries along with all those moderate republicans who voted it through. The Tea Party will be Avenged.

Was it really worth this pain to hang on to the Affordable Health Care act?

A no vote is often symbolic once everyone knows the votes needed are already there, which they did in this instance, mainly due to the solid hand and leadership of Nancy Pelosi.

John Boehners positions is likely to be improved. He took it as far as he could and the extremists will be grateful about this.

If you think the tea party will try this again in February, then I don't. The polls are already stacked in fvour of the democrats taking congress back next year. One more false move, and the tealiban could be facing political wilderness. The establishment of the party will not allow this to happen.
