x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:13 PM

Thank you all for your help :-) I will never click on anything I'm not 100% sure of ever again! Lol

x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:14 PM

I reported it to amazon and the said they will investigate it.

Benjamin 12-12-2013 11:16 PM

Just keep an eye on your bank transactions for any suspicious actions, but you should be okay.

will there let you know what there find out

MTVN 12-12-2013 11:20 PM

Try and get amazon to give you some free stuff over this

x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:22 PM

It was just a standard email I got, it said it's been sent to their investigation team blah blah blah beware you may not receive a personal message.

So maybe I will or maybe I won't lol

I would love to get free stuff but I'm pretty sure amazon won't be giving me any haha

fingers 12-12-2013 11:24 PM

They really need the email HEADERS!

x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:25 PM

I forwarded all the emails to them.

If the emails are still in your trash you can extract the headers by following this link > https://faq.oit.gatech.edu/content/h...roubleshooting

x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:31 PM

I'm thinking this is going to make me sound even more stupid than everyone must already think I am lol but what's a header?

lily. 12-12-2013 11:32 PM

The header is the part of the email containing the originator's ID. You can tell the IP address of the person who sent it to you. It's contained in the header.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother. As long as you've changed your Amazon password, deleted the email and know now that you shouldn't click anything suspicious, you're sorted.

michael21 12-12-2013 11:33 PM

part of the email containing the originator's ID

fingers 12-12-2013 11:34 PM

Tt's the hidden information that you normally don't see but it is invaluable for fraud investigators.

x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:36 PM

I see, ok thank you :-) if I've forwarded the emails to them will they be able to get it? Or will I have to get it? And if so can I get it on an iPad?

lily. 12-12-2013 11:36 PM

I never send these things on. I just mark them as spam, delete them, and get on with my life. There are way too many scammers out there for Amazon or companys like them to feasibly investigate, so I figure the best thing to do is educate people on keeping themselves safe, and then the scammers don't win.

It's up to you evenstar, but I think you've done enough for now.

lily. 12-12-2013 11:37 PM

And, no, they can't get the headers.. you have to get them.. then forward the mail.

Are you using hotmail?

x-evenstar-x 12-12-2013 11:38 PM

Yeah I'm using hotmail.

fingers 12-12-2013 11:38 PM

Like Lily says, you have probably done enough, but generally i believe that headers are not recoverable from forwarded emails.
