Thank you all for your help :-) I will never click on anything I'm not 100% sure of ever again! Lol
I reported it to amazon and the said they will investigate it.
Just keep an eye on your bank transactions for any suspicious actions, but you should be okay.

Try and get amazon to give you some free stuff over this
It was just a standard email I got, it said it's been sent to their investigation team blah blah blah beware you may not receive a personal message.
So maybe I will or maybe I won't lol I would love to get free stuff but I'm pretty sure amazon won't be giving me any haha |
They really need the email HEADERS!
I forwarded all the emails to them.

I'm thinking this is going to make me sound even more stupid than everyone must already think I am lol but what's a header?
The header is the part of the email containing the originator's ID. You can tell the IP address of the person who sent it to you. It's contained in the header.
To be honest, I wouldn't bother. As long as you've changed your Amazon password, deleted the email and know now that you shouldn't click anything suspicious, you're sorted. |
part of the email containing the originator's ID
Tt's the hidden information that you normally don't see but it is invaluable for fraud investigators.
I see, ok thank you :-) if I've forwarded the emails to them will they be able to get it? Or will I have to get it? And if so can I get it on an iPad?
I never send these things on. I just mark them as spam, delete them, and get on with my life. There are way too many scammers out there for Amazon or companys like them to feasibly investigate, so I figure the best thing to do is educate people on keeping themselves safe, and then the scammers don't win.
It's up to you evenstar, but I think you've done enough for now. |
And, no, they can't get the headers.. you have to get them.. then forward the mail.
Are you using hotmail? |

Yeah I'm using hotmail.
Like Lily says, you have probably done enough, but generally i believe that headers are not recoverable from forwarded emails.
