-   -   Syco signs Tamera Foster, Luke Friend and Nicholas McDonald? (https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242320)

Tamera's the only contestant with a hope of a career this year. Nicholas will bring out a Mother's day album and then be dropped and Luke will release a flop single that sounds like something McFly rejected and will be swiftly dropped before he can release an album.

Ew more of Luke

Where did these rumours originate on Twitter?

After i read the terms of the contract i hope they don't sign Luke. It sounds horrific if true. :nono:

Some key points:
Artists who were voted out of the show are still under contract to Cowell’s label for up to three months.

Winner gets £150k advance, 2nd gets £75k, 3rd £50k and 4th £10k.

Apparently the winner and runner-ups can be signed to any of Sony’s record labels like RCA or Epic Records, not only Syco. But being in top 4 doesn’t automatically mean a record deal, even though advances have been specified in the contract.

The winner gets 15 per cent from single and album sales. Headlining a tour brings 7.5 per cent of show profits and 15 per cent of merchandise sales.

The record label has “final say” over tracks for albums, and can choose producers and single releases.

Another clause states that artists leaving the show may have to give 5 per cent of all future live earnings to Cowell for a year.

Marketable to who, kids who can't see further than the teenage stero-typical view of so-called good looks or a few muscles worked for at the gym. God help the music industry.

I hope they don't sign Luke. He can do better than Syco.

They haven't signed Hannah :nono:

Yes he can. Syco will dump them as soon as the fickle teens loose interest which usually isn't very long - usually about the time the next 'good looking' wannabee appears on the scene.

I think an indipendent label would be better for a songwriter like him.

I wasn't sure about Luke at first, but he proved himself in the competition. He upped his game and delivered the goods and just got better and better, whilst Sam just whittled on about how much he wanted it - it isn't about wanting it, it's about having it. Luke has it, that is the difference between them and why Luke got to the final and Sam didn't.

I agree. Music is in in blood. He just wants to write songs.

Tom4784 21-12-2013 07:48 PM

Syco is Luke's only option, he has no credibility to be picked up by any other record companies.

No, it's not. Music producers noticed him when he was 6, but he was too young to get signed back then. :spin:

Tom4784 21-12-2013 07:55 PM

And he's ruined any chances of it happening now by doing X Factor. The best he can hope for outside of Syco now is a cheap no name record label that will pick him up for a quick buck and drop him the second he flops.

If he had any real talent or potential he wouldn't have needed the X Factor. He's destroyed any chances of a future career by doing X Factor since it alienates his core target audience. Any decent Record company will consider him a joke.

That is you opinion and you're entitled to it. But i don't agree. Let's leave it at that.

Tom4784 21-12-2013 07:59 PM

It's an informed opinion, I actually know what I'm talking about. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment Vanessa, I have a better chance of getting a contract then he does.

Even if Luke get's an independent label at least it means he stays in the Music Industry without the pressure of getting constant number ones like Sam Bailey will be getting every single.

Except that won't happen, like I said before, he'll get some low rent record deal, **** out a quick single and get dropped soon after. He's a flash in the pan, nothing more.

There is no market for him.

Tbf acts like Luke have been able to get independent labels after TXF before, I certainly wouldn't rule him out of it.

But personally the most commercial this series I think will be Rough Copy anyway, they've got the cheesy dance moves down to a tea that the teen girls will love.

I like Luke, because he writes his own songs and they're amazing. Syco would never et him do that. He needs an indipendent label. This is his most recent song :
