He said 'we had brandy' then he proceeded to say 'we didn't drink them' those were his exact words, clearly he assumed Linda drank it and capitalised on the opportunity but Linda saw straight through him because he didn't mention the fact that he had the wine

that's my response to Shaun's post too. Also she didn't 'scream bloody murder', just defend herself reasonably like anyone would if they were used as a scapegoat. Jim's the one started swearing

Lets play an alternative scenario where they were given wine and Jim was the only one to drink it

Linda: We had wine but we didn't drink it

Jim would have either needed to lie to make himself look as good as Linda or tell the truth about all the alcohol. Its a horrible place to be in and Linda would ave been a twat to put him in this position.
