I just thought the same thing...I googled him asthe news was breaking andit was already done

Saph 02-02-2014 06:16 PM

What's he been in?

Shaun 02-02-2014 06:20 PM

Loved the Big Lebowski, The Master (he was stunning in that), the Talented Mr. Ripley, Synecdoche New York, Doubt, The Boat that Rocked, and I'm sure there're many more I haven't yet seen I'll grow to love.

He's probably most widely known for the Hunger Games, Mission Impossible 3 and Capote

MeMyselfAndI 02-02-2014 06:20 PM

So sad :(

I thought he was great in the hunger games

gutted to hear this tragic news

a truly brilliant actor

I am not one of these people who think actors are over rated luvvies....I love movies, I love proper serious actors like hoffman just like the brandos, newmans, lancasters, pacinos, bogarts, cagneys, vivien leighs, fondas, bronsons, bergmans, deniros, lemons, etc in their prime... think great actors are important and enrich our lives....he did that....
I liked every performance I saw him give.

my favourite was scent of a woman , the big lebowski , the master, talented mr ripley, capote, boat that rocked, charlie wilsons war, patch adams boogie nights, twister and magnolia...he was also brilliant in flawless with deniro..not seen hunger games yet

a very intelligent powerful yet subtle actor, you could always see his brain at work.....Ill be sure to trawl through his vast body of work as a tribute to a brilliant talent

rip mr seymour hoffman

Kate! 02-02-2014 06:31 PM

He was in Mission Impossible III as well.

R.I.P. :(

King Gizzard 02-02-2014 06:35 PM

..yeah, I agree..a great actor gives you more than just a movie because you often believe in the character that they're playing as well...that's the magic of movies...just so terribly sad, he was always one of my favourite ..I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie when his presence hasn't 'lifted' it...

Saph 02-02-2014 07:03 PM

Who was he in THG?

Shaun 02-02-2014 07:03 PM

Plutarch Heavensbee - the gamesmaker who works with Gale/Haymitch etc to start the revolution

King Gizzard 02-02-2014 07:07 PM

Not sure he finished filming either, it says it's still filming on IMDB anyway (MJ2)

Vanessa 02-02-2014 07:10 PM

Downloaded Capote, Ides of March and Moneyball today... I'm sure there're more films of his to get into too.
