I read that as "...he was executed..."

I was going to say, bloody hell Salman, that was one tough school.

'
The teenage boy who repeatedly stabbed a teacher to death in a full classroom has been described as having held a deep grudge against her.

The 15-year-old boy remains in custody Tuesday following the fatal stabbing of the much-loved teacher.

Ann Maguire, a 61-year-old married mother of two who taught Spanish and religious education, was attacked shortly before noon by the boy who had said that he would “love for her to be dead”, classmates claimed.

The arrested boy, named widely on social media, has a Facebook profile that carries a picture of the Grim Reaper but lists no friends.'

Judging by the picture we are now building up of this seriously deranged teenager, at least we can take some comfort out of the fact he did not acquire a gun come to school and murder all his classmates like the shootings we see all to regularly in American schools.

Kizzy 29-04-2014 01:30 PM

Yes he was a disturbed teen, that fact has never been in dispute. He fixated on this woman there is no suggestion he wanted to kill anyone else.

Z 29-04-2014 02:38 PM

I have to assume that at least to some extent she must have antagonised him if he was fixated on getting revenge for some perceived issue. It'd be odd for any tributes to say anything remotely negative about her, and I'm sure she was a much loved teacher, but I think the scenario posted earlier in the thread about her treating him like an idiot might be a reasonable explanation of what happened...

But you're not in any way suggesting she brought it on herself, right?

Tom4784 29-04-2014 03:06 PM

From what I've heard he was quite a disturbed individual which reminds me of school shootings in America. Like them, it could have probably been avoided. It's a very sad situation.

Not being funny but when kids act up in class, you do ignore/embarrass them to make them stop. I can imagine she might have been one of the best teachers at controlling him and he didn't like it so when she did tell him off again, he acted out ...

Not saying that's what happened, but I can easily imagine it.

Yes.......quite possible. she may have thought wrongly that because he didn't shout or argue back at her she had the upper hand. She may have even used her position as teacher to influence the other pupils in supporting her comments jibes to him.

This could have been her fatal mistake as this deranged teenager slowly built up an intense psychopathic hatred of her and like a pressure cooker he finally exploded in murderous rage at her after one perceived humiliation too many resulting in this knife attack.

bullies always pick on those who wont fight back.

MTVN 29-04-2014 04:09 PM

Lots of 15 year olds get stupid ideas in their heads about how some teachers have grudges against them, I seriously doubt this teacher will have done anything unduly provocative

Marsh. 29-04-2014 04:11 PM

How the hell have we leaped towards the teacher "humiliating/bullying" him? :suspect:

I think people are looking at it all "rationally", there must be some deep cause, the victim must have done something very hurtful to get such a response, but really behaviour like that is completely irrational. Anything will set them off. Just as a rapist would say a lady in a skirt was asking for it, it's completely barmy/warped minds twisting reality.

Ammi 29-04-2014 04:22 PM

..I didn't read anything in that article that suggests she was a bully in any way or that she abused her position..'he' had attempted suicide..'he' had said he would like her dead..'he' had said he carried a knife..'he' and his brother never replied when neighbours said hello...I think there are lots of signs of an emotionally unhealthy minds that possible weren't alerted to anyone...?...the is nothing to suggest anything about her character other than she was very popular...maybe it's best to wait until the trial and what we know before making these remarks and speculations about her character...

Josy 29-04-2014 04:28 PM

The poor woman is dead at the hands of this kid and all of a sudden with no indications to assume it she's a bully, she was harassing him etc...

I have no words.

smudgie 29-04-2014 04:36 PM

Perhaps he had a fixation with her and could not handle sharing her, obsession can turn to hatred.

Whatever the reason, this is so sad.

...there seemed to be lots of things quite worrying and other people knew about them but I wonder if anything was reported to anyone..?..also if he was carrying a knife, I think it may have been more 'premeditated..'...

Yes and other pupils knew that
but did not contact the Head Teacher
I assume they thought he would not do it?

...I guess so, but it's not something that generally people say, that they would like someone to be dead and he had 'no friends' and was thought of as a 'weird' type kid..there's no blame on people for not reading them but it seems possible that all the 'signs' were there...

He may have already hidden the knife in the school perhaps in a locker and used the opportunity to retrieve it when he was out of the class photocopying. Maybe this was premeditated to a degree but to kill her I'm not sure that's how he saw it ending.

What a sad and dangerous concoction of youngsters we have these days. A mixture of lack of discipline, no enforceable authority from anywhere other than parents. 24 hour access to hard core Killing Video games, liberal dispensation of drugs anti-depressants/tranquilisers to children, questionable food additives, extreme pressure to do well and succeed at all costs, not enough jobs at the end of the college/training....etc etc

Is it any wonder a few go completely off the rails under these conditions.

Maybe as a society a bit of soul searching and reflectiveness may be a good thing as this poor lady should have had a more than reasonable expectation when she set out for work on Monday morning that she would return home on Monday evening.

Tragedy for all concerned.
