Is it warm tomorrow? People might stay out... Always get nervous morning after launch for ratings. 2 million + is acceptable tbh, the launches don't tend to interest casuals only the hardcore fans... IMO anything below 1.9 million is a disaster

Sawyer 04-06-2014 07:49 PM

What did the launch last year get? Overnights and officials?

Gstar 04-06-2014 08:00 PM

I think that social media will help a lot, it always seems to explode when a BB/CBB launch starts

ruiphillips 04-06-2014 08:03 PM

1.90 - 2.00 million for launch night

I think that will be different from last year...
3.0 on thursday and 2.7 on friday...

The first episode of the latest series had 2.1 million viewers (9.95% of the total audience share for 9pm) -overnight

2.35 official

Note the second launch had a lower overnight by 20,000 but actually got a 2.4 official

daniel-lewis-1985 04-06-2014 08:50 PM

This year ratings are more important seeing as Viacom have taken over we all need the show to do well so they renew it.

I love BB Launch but I always dread checking the ratings thread the next day.

Im starting to think a 1.9/2.1 launch they haven't done any interviews with radio1/loose women/this morning or anything really at all this week.

Really makes me appreciate how good promo was for BB12.

People are going wayyy to low

jackc1806 04-06-2014 08:53 PM

The CBB effect could help, peak of 3.7m viewers watched CBB final... 2m + should be guaranteed

It averaged 3.71m officially, so it probably got 4m peak!

I wouldn't say that. A ratings of 1.9 is only 200,000 down from last years first launch.

200,000 is not a big margin especially when BB14 launch was down by about 500,000 from BB13.

Thank **** people saw sense and carried on watching or it could have been doomed.

For CBB in January to be beating CBB6 which was 5 years (half a decade) ago was highly impressive and shows people still love watching BB its average was literally 100.000 behind it and and that's only because of the launch figure Channel 4 got.

I don't think we can judge launch night for the normal series against the CBB in January though as sad as it is more and more people are saying "I don't watch the normal one but I love the celeb version".

BUT I have read a lot of stupid Twitter users and mail online readers comments like "Cant wait for BB I wonder which celebs are going in?!?!"

ALOT lol so they may contribute accidentally.

I think this years BB will carry on the success:

We have had a full interview on the paul o'grady show they talked about big brother for about 10 min, we've had a front page cover on the one off the TV magazines last Saturday, and about every magazine had information on BB last weekend, today Rylan talked about big brother on this morning for a bit, BB advets on other channels the normal online promo with the mail online etc

Other thing that's new this year that a lot of people haven't noticed is that they upload the main advert on the main BB channel and it has around 70,000 views and it's going up. Like Germyle said Emma profile has grown a lot

and we have got a lot of new viewers since BB14 & CBB13 more people have been watching.

Gypsy 04-06-2014 09:11 PM

my guess is 2.4

Really I didn't know Rylan mentioned it . Do people still read magazines though? lol don't get me wrong I love seeing BB on the front pages and when BB14 made front page of the sun last year I was orgasming.

Saying all this if I wasn't a forum member the promo has been so little that I don't think I would even know it was starting.

I have seen 1 bb advert this year and 1 eye flash.

I think social media is a ratings saviour for BB these days as it starts trending early in the day then gets people talking and when their timelines are full of BB tweets then its pretty obvious BB is back.

But yeah you're right about the growing success but last year didn't really have any competition either. God damn world cup why don't they just cancel it lol.

Samm 04-06-2014 09:21 PM

Social media does help a lot I agree, I think it will still beat C4 tommorow tbh, and I think C5 know that BB isn't going to beat the World Cup anyday so it doesn't matter

I still think Viacom will keep BB there's no other C5 show that gets talked about then Big brother

daniel-lewis-1985 04-06-2014 09:23 PM

Hope it buckets down from mid afternoon till about 7pm so people stay in then tune into BB and its glorious sunshine in Elstree.

Its always interesting to see when BB starts trending I think it was quite late last year.

Everyone start spamming Twitter with #BBUK

uniquedude 05-06-2014 02:13 AM

Promotion means nothing considering CBB13 got bascially 0 promotion and yet launch was strong and overall series was highest on C5.

2.0 million for the first
2.0 million for the second

If something happens like Casey/Lee/Jasmine love triangle or Hazel and Daley safehouse gate then the viewing figures will increase if not overall it will be around 1.5 million overall

Samm 05-06-2014 10:03 PM

I have a good felling, when did BB start trending

Jack. 05-06-2014 10:07 PM

I'm thinking 2.5 inc +1

BigBrotherfan4ever 06-06-2014 07:05 AM

I my dying to know what the ratings were like last night

Jemal 06-06-2014 07:06 AM
