I don't believe in sex before marriage. But if people do then that's fine

King Gizzard 16-07-2014 07:17 PM

Even atheists must admit he's a prick (Dawkins)

I don't believe in God by any stretch either but for one no one knows the truth for sure, so adamantly claiming the same copy and paste reply doesn't portray atheists in a good light. Especially not when people are called deluded because they don't share the same opinion as you.

Whatever about hating organised religion but you should have as much respect for the actual people as you'd expect them to have for you.

Ammi 16-07-2014 07:27 PM

..I always think it's odd that 'non believers' spend so much time talking about something that can't be proved (because it's a faith) when they don't believe in things that can't be proved/bizarre....

Kate! 16-07-2014 07:31 PM

I believe there's something after death. Without any doubts.

Marsh. 16-07-2014 07:39 PM

Kathy Burke had Dawkins right.

I believe we go on after death, not in the same form ,I believe several 'lives' are a test,Why do we have the capability to learn so much, just for it all to be for nothing, and I wonder if we have to experience different kind of lives, not sure people will know what I mean, maybe we go through all the good and bad things in different lives.I'll shut up now,it's probably not making much sense, lol

If you make an extraordinary claim and you wish people to believe it the burden of proof is on you

remember every religionist is an atheist about every other god and religion

I was brought up a christian singing Jesus wants me for a rainbow

Its when you learn about how rainbows actually occur that you think...hmmmm ( and from an airplane rainbows are fully round)

I don't understand how you say I Don't believe in God because there is no proof he exists but then you go ahead and make plans for next week as if you had a proof that those days do exist.Lots of things we cant see it doesn't mean they are not there.

MTVN 16-07-2014 07:59 PM

Agnostic but I'm quite sympathetic towards religion though mainly from a non-religious viewpoint, stuff like the aesthetics of it all and the theology and history, I think it would be sad if Christianity ever became a negligible presence in this country

I've never really been strongly religious or strongly atheist either, half my family are Catholic and half Anglican, the Anglican side is historically more religious because my grandfather was a vicar but neither of my parents were strongly religious so I've not been that influenced by it really

Not at the expense of it interfering with politics. Fair enough about not wanting Christianity to become non-existent in society but it gets in the way of too much these days.

MTVN 16-07-2014 08:05 PM

Tbh I think there are far shadier elements than the Church that have much more interference in politics (big donors, lobbyists etc.)

they dont but until its eradicated from schools and politics people will still keep shattering illusions for people who say they believe in nonsense

there is substantial evidence to suggest that next week will arrive, scientific peer reviewed evidence

also bills are a good way to prove next week will come

my BT bill for example will deffo arrive next wed

...hmmmm, but again you're just generalising..it depends how it's taught in schools and there is very much a place for it as much as there is for philosophy to help children understand morals...and if they come from Bible stories as opposed to any other story that has a meaning and a moral to it, it really doesn't matter because it helps guide them and teaches them something good and a valuable life ethos...

the truth 16-07-2014 09:44 PM

I believe in Jesus Christ. The greatest human being that ever lived. A man who gave us lessons that are invaluable for all eternity. I do not follow other religions they seem far less forgiving than Christianity. I believe it is an infinitely better religion and better set of values for humanity than Islam, Judaism and many other religions. Though I am quite interested in Buddhism. I am a pacifist. Ive never hit anyone in my life. I will state my case and argue my corner by violence is to be avoided. Sadly many people lump all religions together, which is absurd. Christianity is light years ahead of Islam and Judaism. It is enlightened and 1000s of years ahead of its time.

Yes because people will never argue without Christianity will they? before Christianity there were wars , endless wars, if it ended there would be wars endless wars. Clearly you think Jesus was a nasty man preaching some kind of hate that somehow lead to wars. Can you please outline how you come to this conclusion and ignored all the preaching on love truth forgiveness redemption enlightenment? Or were you just playing to the crowd for cheap laughs?
