I quite like the theme tune, at least the start of it, with all the bell chimes and stuff, the visuals are great too.

I'm mad that the doctor didn't take the black girl with him, I really liked her and was hopping he would collect a couple of people on his adventures so he ends up with a small group traveling with him. I've always preferred it when the doctor travels with a group.

Good idea, Capaldi is already echoing a lot of Pertwee's era.

45 minutes :amazed:

Pete. 06-09-2014 05:49 PM

Peter C was asked to add a flavour of William Hartnell in him because of the new regeneration timeline (well that's what a friend told me)

Messy Clara

I loved tonights episode, it was so silly, but that's what made it so great for me, generally in Moffat's era, episodes that should be fun tended to fall flat, but this episode revelled in how silly it was, rather than trying to be serious at the same time.

Doctor Who Extra - Episode 3:

JTM45 06-09-2014 11:19 PM

I think the new guy is a much better Doctor than that little boy with the giant chin that they had playing him last but so far (with tonight's episode being a Prime example!) the writing and storylines have been absolutely HORRENDOUS!!!!!!
As a child i spent my week days getting excited for Saturday evening's Doctor Who episode with the greatest ever Doctor (Tom Baker!) in them and that era of Doctor Who was just immense in every way!!! Davros was the scariest nemesis of the Doctor's ever. Used to scare the crap out of me.

Rob! 07-09-2014 12:28 AM

I quite enjoyed tonight - was good fun. I'm liking Capaldi more and more. :) actually finding myself liking Clara more too - at last.
Next week looks creepy as ****. I'm really hoping for a old school Moffat story. The type we used to look forward to in the RTD era. He hasn't written a stand alone story since Beast Below.

Samm 07-09-2014 07:38 AM

I liked the Dalek episode a lot, haven't watched the current episode yet tbh

The episodes are a lot better now that they are not taking over by a massive story arc like series 6 was and parts of series 7, it does feel like it's back to what it was like before Matt Smith, I like the missy mystery since it only takes up like 6 seconds just like the Bad wolf story arc did :flutter:

Scarlett. 07-09-2014 10:24 AM

I agree, it's so nice not having some convoluted plot every single episode, I mean, its been a really long time since we had a story as simple as Robots of Sherwood, hell, even Into the Dalek and Deep Breath were simple enough. Another thing that really helps this series is, its a consistent run of episodes, the last time we got a series that played out in full was 2010 with series 5.

Jarrod 07-09-2014 06:45 PM

Don't forget, I'm adding the episode ratings in the OP.

armand.kay 13-09-2014 08:16 PM

This is scurry :worry:

Shaun 13-09-2014 08:29 PM

great episode, until the last 10 minutes

tired of Moffat's eye for a good visual and atmosphere being undone at the last minute by his desperate attempts to be deep

armand.kay 13-09-2014 08:45 PM

Yeah the end was annoying.

Glenn. 13-09-2014 08:54 PM

So..

Spoiler:

Clara took the TARDIS to Gallifrey?

armand.kay 13-09-2014 08:56 PM

Yeah basically

Tregard 13-09-2014 10:03 PM

Clara ruined the episode for me yet again by being non-human levels of quirky and being far more important than she should be. Great concept, brilliant pacing and settings, Capaldi played a blinder yet again, but man, if Clara doesn't always put a damper on things for me.

Interesting theory bouncing around that

Spoiler:

The child Clara was talking to was The Master

Scarlett. 13-09-2014 10:33 PM

I actually loved the ending, perhaps because I thought they were just reusing the barn set, didn't expect it to actually be the same place, lol. Also, it's a lot better than revealing the monster at the end, it leaves the question, was there a monster, or was it just the Doctor's overactive imaginination.

Tom4784 13-09-2014 10:54 PM

It was an amazing episode, incredibly creepy.

I do think the creature in Rupert's room might have some significance at some point down the line since it was the only thing that couldn't be explained as simply being the Doctor's imagination. There's more to Danny and I think the creature will tie into his story somehow beyond this episode.

Shaun 13-09-2014 10:55 PM

See I thought I was confused by that as well and then I read on Wiki it was revealed it was a friend of his playing a prank  I was like 'uh...where?'

I don't think anything has been said for definite. It definitely didn't look human when the blanket slid off.
