You have already stated that the incident occurred in a location which has no CCTV cameras and I believe that, had you just ignored this ignorant bastard and left the car where it was and walked away, you would have returned to find your car damaged - probably scratched by 'keying' or similar.

They have no regard or respect for the law and do not not know how to spell 'morals', let alone possess any, and I believe that you did absolutely the correct thing in the circumstances - even though you may now feel ashamed or angry at yourself for not 'standing up' to him.

That was exactly what I thought. I thought if I had left my car there it would be damaged. I didn't have much time to think, it was within a few milliseconds that I had to process it all.

And absolutely, I wouldn't have keyed his car anything because that automatically puts me in the wrong. Even though he was ignorant, I wouldn't have retaliated like that.
