They really didn't give us any reason to care about at least half of the jury though? Michelle, Jessica, Sunday, Chris, Will, **** you can even throw Zeke and Bret in there too since the former's whole story was "He Played A Good Game" and the latter didn't really exist except for the time he came out.

I definitely agree that there were a lot of great things about this season on paper, but the execution was so poor because the cast was dull and the edit sucked and there was no incentive to invest in a lot of the characters.

Disagree on Michelle, Chris, Will and Zeke (even Bret more so towards the end). I was at least able to form opinions on them all from what they showed us, I think the only few nonentities were Sunday/Jessica and Rachel/Lucy/CeCe who didn't have much of a storyline to showcase.

JerseyWins 17-12-2016 10:46 PM

I mean let's look at the Kaoh Rong cast... it had its non-entities...

Don't get me wrong plenty of these are likable but the same opinion can be formed like they are with the MvGx castaways.

Darnell (Rachel had more of an impact as a first boot)

Joe (completely irrelevant on so many episodes)

Jennifer (I forget what I liked about her but her edit doesn't really surpass a MvGX early boot such as Lucy, who had more of an impact in an episode at least ... could maybe compare to someone like Jessica even)

Anna (as much as I liked her she fizzled out quickly and she was one-dimensional... similar to like Michelle from MvGx.. who I also liked though :joker:)

Neal was a much worse / more boring version of Zeke as far as I'm concerned. Pretty damn bland.

Nick was a one-tone, annoying, full of himself character.

Scot & Jason served as decent villains for the season I'll give them that, but they're another pair of pretty unlikable castaways. (I guess Scot at least had a few different aspects to his personality as we saw with his relationship with Tai and what not but whatever at these two)

Aubry wasn't far off from the typical "nerdy" game player (likable enough though). The thing is, I would say Hannah is the WAY better version of this kind of character and actually had plenty of different dimensions to her character. Much funnier too obviously as Aubry didn't have much of a sense of humor.

Maybe some others as well. But that's half the cast already. I think you could pick apart plenty of people from the Kaoh Rong cast just like in the MvGx cast.

JerseyWins 17-12-2016 10:50 PM

MvGx did have 2 extra people on the cast too so it's a little bit tougher to get quality edits in early on. I think they did a pretty fine job though and IMO the most entertaining/likable people got the big edits.

...no she didn't?

And yet he was still great, funny how that works out

lol she had 100x the visibility of Lucy and more impact than Jessica despite lasting far fewer episodes, this doesn't even make sense

Not sure how this makes him a non-entity but okay

And then there's stuff like "Neal was a worse version of Zeke" and "Aubry didn't have a sense of humour" that I'm not even going to go near

(plus, KR might have had the best editing of the past... ten seasons? which is why so many of the characters are well fleshed out and it makes MvGX's editing even more laughable)

Who would be your favourite winner from this year, Adam or Michele?

reece(: 17-12-2016 10:54 PM

Joe Del Campo is a top survivor male

JerseyWins 17-12-2016 10:55 PM

I think certain people had amazing edits in Kaoh Rong but I think the same thing for MvGx. A decent amount of castaways from Kaoh Rong had literally one dimension to their character (so maybe Nick wasn't a non-entity but that's what I was getting at with him & a few of the others) which is the argument that's trying to be made for a bunch of people from the MvGx cast.

Michele

Michele is an above average winner while Adam is a below average winner IMO. I found Michele to be a good character while I only felt sympathy for Adam but didn't really care for him aside from that.

Of course I'm serious

Macie Lightfoot 17-12-2016 11:07 PM

I don't think the argument is that the MvGX cast was edited one-dimensionally as so much as that they were edited to be very flat and toneless characters who we were given no reason to care about. Rachel-Mari-Paul is one of the least inspiring one-two-three punches in Survivor history, Lucy didn't exist for 75% of her episodes, CeCe didn't exist, Michelle didn't exist after she orchestrated the Mari boot, Chris is one of the most useless and legitimately boring casting choices of all time (he played college football and that's it), Jessica drew a rock and that's it, Will didn't exist until his last two episodes, Sunday didn't exist at all, Zeke "existed" in the most blatant example of "he's coming back for another season so you guys better remember him" ... I could go on and on (and I know I have.)

And you can say that a lot of it comes down to a 20 person cast, which sure part of it might, but then this show needs to stop casting 20 people??? There's no need for 20 people if they can't edit the show properly (and they can't. Cambodia was even worse), if they're going to do the same ~SHOCKING~ two tribes to three tribe swap, if they're going to inflate the merge with 13 or 14 people (there is literally no point to this), inflate the jury with 10 people (there is literally no point to this, ESPECIALLY when this show clearly does not think the Final Tribal Council is important enough to spend more than 15 minutes on), and inflate the funale with 6 people (there is literally no point to this, especially when they can't tell a coherent story to begin with, let alone attempt to tell one when they have to show three Challenges, three Tribal Councils, AND a Final Tribal Council and vote reveal.)

Of the ones that I've seen I really enjoyed Pearl Islands, China, and Panama.

I voted for Pearl Islands on the poll though.

It's probably Amazon now that I've rewatched it tbh but PI is a close second.
