James 24-11-2014 10:45 AM

Haven't really looked at this before but I think I've got 4 of these.

Mokka 24-11-2014 11:30 AM

I think I came up with 4 as well.

Tregard 25-11-2014 10:22 AM

Shaun 26-11-2014 09:45 PM

Just had a go... no idea on #5 or #6 though.

Ammi 28-11-2014 05:51 AM

..this is so annoying, I know what connects 1 and 2 but I still can't get what the last connection would be for sure and 5 and 6...well, damn...

Shaun 28-11-2014 05:54 AM

#1 was annoying me as well until I realised what it was  You'll kick yourself.

I most certainly am kicking myself

Mokka 30-11-2014 09:51 AM

post to bump it up

Took a crack at #6
I feel like I know what it is about, but not sure if I got the last in sequence right.

Tregard 01-12-2014 12:26 PM

I do believe it's about time for some answers

Only Shaun got this devilish sequence for 2 points. The first clue is a quote from the weatherman Michael Fish, so one "Fish". Pisces is the zodiac symbol of two fish. The French for "goldfish" is "poisson rouge", or "Red Fish". So, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish! In my case, I gave the example of Dory from Finding Nemo.

Shaun, Mokkajava and James managed to deduce these were all Vegas hotels, but Mokkajava plucked for the wrong one! Shaun and James correctly guessed MGM Grand, as it is the largest casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

James, Shaun and Ammi managed this for 3 points, correctly identifying they are in fact the four directors of the Harry Potter film series in chronological order, last up was David Yates, who directed the final four films.

Ammi, James and Shaun also saw through this sequence for 3 points. Now expecting anyone to realise these were Rage Against The Machine singles was difficult enough, but it would've been impossible to expect people to know the charting positions of these tracks! Unless of course, fourth in the sequence had been Christmas number 1 a few years back :)

Only James took a crack at this :/ These are the sizes in degrees of "slices" of a circle, if that circle was split into 6,5,4, and 3 pieces. No points there.

Sequence 6, Mokkojava incredibly managed to get without the connection. The answer is Panama, but nobody seemed to know why. We have a picture of a man, a picture of a (floor)plan, a picture of a canal, and finally a picture of Panama. This is the famous Palindrome "A man, a plan, a canal, Panama". AMANAPLANACANALPANAMA backwards is AMANAPLANACANALPANAMA

The Scores:

Quote:

Shaun - 24pts
James - 9pts
Mokkajava - 10pts
Livia - 7pts
Ammi - 6pts
I think those scores are correct? Walls soon!

Tregard 01-12-2014 12:39 PM

Here are your two walls, your job is to sort the 16 clues in each into 4 connected groups of 4. You'll receive 3 points for each connected group you PM me, as well as a bonus 3 points for solving an entire wall.

This post and two other posts I sent on Nov 23rd (#44 and #46 in this thread) Indicate I sent you a pm regarding 4 sequence answers.

In them I answered #'s 1, 3, 4, and 5. I got #1 and 5 wrong but I was right for 3 and 4. Did you not get these answers?

Shaun 01-12-2014 02:58 PM

damnit, I even thought they were "man", "plan" and "canal" but have never heard of that palindrome

Shaun 01-12-2014 03:00 PM

and i am ashamed by the group of the first wall i've identified first

Tregard 01-12-2014 09:08 PM

Mokkajava your score is updated :)

Thanks

I thought the Panama connection had to due to a recent news article,
but now I know the journalist was just being cheeky by using a palindrome in the title of his storey

Ammi 03-12-2014 05:40 AM

..ughhh, I'm going to send some but I absolutely know that most are probably wrong....
