So sorry to hear this.
Cherish and remember all of the memories you had with him. |
woke up crying this morning... dreamt that my cat came back to life and the vet called us saying how it was a miracle that he was still alive... i think your thread brought back memories of him.
its a long journey. it's been nearly 9 months now and I still think of him every day please keep us updated with your cat hunting. maybe one will just turn up at your house like our Meowzie |
Your dream must have really freaked you out Caitlin. Sometimes it's so real and you wake up and it really disorientates you.. I hate that..
Bailey had a best pal. He started turning up at my door every day. I thought he was a stray. I started giving him food and cuddles. He is jet black, so I named him Sooty. He was the only cat in the neighbourhood (and there are a LOT of cats where I live) that Bailey would actually tolerate. Bailey was a scrapper. If another cat so much as looked in our garden, he would go after them. Sooty was only the second cat (outside of our own cats) I had ever seen him being nice to. The first one was a female called Toots who lived in the next street. She used to hang out on the back fence waiting for him to come outside. He did the same with her, then they would go roaming around the neighbourhood. One time she ingested something poisonous and took seriously ill. Her owner came straight round to me to tell me to check Bailey cos she knew they were always together. Soon after, Bailey started acting weird, so we took him to the vet. He hadn't ingested much of it, so after some meds and fluids, and a few hours rest he was fine. Toots had to spend 3 days in the vets, but she was eventually okay as well. It was quite scary for her owner. Toots (and her owner) moved to another town a few years ago, and Bailey went back to hating all of the cats. Until Sooty. Anyway, I was waiting for the bus to college one day last year, and I saw a guy out at his car and Sooty was wandering round his legs. I called over to him and asked if that was his cat. He told me that his name was Tom, and they had moved house recently and that he just goes back and forth to the old place. My house is right in the middle between their old house and their new one. I told him he had been visiting me daily and I had thought he was a stray. He said that he likes to roam around visiting people. So that mystery was solved. He wasn't a stray. His name wasn't Sooty. But, I still call him that and he still visits every day. Although, once I found out he had a home, I stopped feeding him in case he decided to move in with me. He usually sleeps on top of my rabbit hutch as the sun shines right over there. He was with Bailey when he took ill and he saw Bailey struggling to breathe. He came around yesterday morning again, and sat on the rabbit hutch meowing. I guess he knows. But he was back around again this morning, so I guess he likes us as much as he liked Bailey. I hope our next cat likes him too. Anyway, I just thought I would share that story.. |

Sorry to here this. My cat passed away in July so I know how awful it is to lose a beloved pet. Similar to you, she got ill and putting her to sleep was the only option in the end. It's heartbreaking, but at least we know that they're not suffering. Six months later and I'm still always having dreams at night that she's still around.
Just remember all the joy he brought you. |
Thank you Lostie... I swear I keep seeing him around the house and garden.. it's weird.. It's probably a trick of the light, but you never know.. :)

Our new addition was picked up in the street in November 2014 and taken to a local vet. When the owner couldn't be located, she was handed over to the SSPCA. Their vet checked her over, micro-chipped her and gave her all the up to date vaccinations, etc and put her up for rehoming. We went along to the shelter, and she was the first one who stood out to us.. The vet estimates she is between 5 and 8. She is really dainty though..
We've had her since Monday and she's still a wee bit shy but she does enjoy attention, so I'm sure she won't be shy for long.. Our house wasn't a home without a cat.. It's a home again. :) http://i61.tinypic.com/5ow3ti.jpg |
Aw she's adorable Linda
|
She really is. I can't wait til she comes out of her shell properly.. I think she'll be a wee minx.. :)
|
omg....aaaaaaAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! She is so cute! She will come round soon enough. I think you'll love her.
What do the kids think? is she affectionate yet? |
Aww, she is so beautiful, Linda :)
Has she got a name yet? Will she be called Monday as you got her on a Monday or did she come with a name already? |
We have a cat that visits our house about 5 times a day, she's not ours but I love her none the less and she often sleeps in with me  |
Ben grooming the neighbours pets.

Awww Ben.. that's cute.. :)
She came with a name... the rescue centre had named her Sally. So, we just kept it. It kinda suits her and she answers to it a wee bit too... She's very affectionate when it suits her, but then she just scurries off and hides upstairs. She's found a spot under my kid's bed. He has a mid-sleeper and there's loads of stuff bundled up under it, so it's a good wee hidey-hole for her when she feels like it. One of my daughter's friends had a rescue cat and she said it spent 2 weeks under the couch (aside from eating etc.) then it started to be more sociable. It's probably common with cats who have had a rough life.. I think she'll be a proper little spoilt cat once she settles in. :) |
..she's totally adorable, Lily.....and Sally is a lovely name..yeah, give her a few weeks and you'll all be fitting into her schedule just nicely...
|
Aw.....she's gorgeous and she still has that kitten look about her  When I had a rescue cat....he was awful for a while spitting and hissing then after a couple of weeks he hopped up on my knee and then was the most loving cat I've had.....
|
She doesn't do the spitting/hissing thing which is good, but she does the running away and hiding thing... She's branching out bit by bit though. :D
|
You have no idea how much I want to hug a cat right now
|
Are my snapchats giving you cat-withdrawals? lol
