What about the people who choose to name a child a certain name? Or those who choose to get a tattoo. Or those who choose to endanger themselves to help those in need? Is Hopkins the only person allowed to make a choice without being criticised for it? :conf:

The difference is, her choice involves perpetuating nasty stereotypes, which means she absolutely is entitled to be judged for it.

It's just the same as an American viewing the British stereotype, posh, up ourselves, tea lovers.

People seem to be taking this out as an issue just because they dislike Katie. Not once has she been offensive to Americans as a whole. She just picks out the obvious stereotype Perez fits.

:clap1::clap1:

A smart lady.

You're going off topic

But she is also a Michelle stan so it's okay.

If he's your typical American ,thank God I was born English

Um, no I'm not. My point is actually very relevant. If you're going to defend Katie's right to make a choice, it's entirely reasonable to bring up the fact that she insults others for their choices (and is supported by some for that).

Not that I'm surprised by your refusal to actually address that.

Choosing to be a racist asshole is fine but when you start voicing it on tv then it's another matter.

Choosing racial slurs didn't do Ken Morley any good. Not that I think that he had any racist intent behind what he said mind you but clearly big brother disagrees with your idea of everyone being allowed their own choice. Especially when said choice is vocalized on tv for all to see.

Yeah I'm sure Hitler said the same thing when he chose to form the Nazi party.

Give me one example of racism?

And there it is, thanks very much for proving my point. That sums up while we'll never have a rational discussion on Katie Hopkins, so I won't bother trying again.

I think you mean Anton Drexler, the founder of National Socialist German Workers' Party.

People have called me a scottish twat, i've heard people called english "fill in the blank" almost every day of my life. There is only offense in it if you choose to take it. Should we stop saying the weather is crap today, because its offensive to weather. Perhaps we just shouldn't bother communicating at all if its so offensive to everyone.

No point having a proper debate about her , you'll get the silly one liners like "Ugh , I hate her so much" then "Oh she is racist" and "KH , hates fat people" "KH has a big nose and is ugly"not to mention the Palestinian line ,lol really , people have pre conceived ideas of her already , so what's the point ?you can only debate with people who are open minded and think about things and not blindly hate someone because their mates do , I am not saying you at all , but it's noticeable in here that people are not prepared for any debate or explanations they just really want to get one over on each other , I see not much is said about the vile things Perez has said , would this be because people don't WANT to know? Hmm I am happy if people want to support Perez who calls peoples kids fat and ugly , and wished death on people , just at least understand why some of us like someone else. At this point it's not really about the housemates just which of the fans are right.

That is a funny analogy. A force 12 upon you!

Merely for some warped thinking that it would have some kind of effect.

Defending everything KH says and not even being willing to admit her faults is hardly having an "open mind", is it? That's what I was referring to. I've admitted the times when I saw a nicer side to her (her reaction to Alicia leaving, for example), and I've admitted the faults in those I like. Shame not everyone will do the same.

And how did this, yet again, turn into a discussion about Perez? Seriously, someone disliking Hopkins doesn't automatically mean they like Perez.

Razor 04-02-2015 07:36 PM

She seems to have an issue with anyone who isn't like her. Weird woman.

As I keep saying, if in all her comments the word 'American' was replaced with 'Indian' there'd have been another race row and this thread would read very differently.

Exactly

Ninastar 04-02-2015 07:55 PM

No, otherwise she'd hate Cami, Michelle, Callum, Alex and all the other americans who were in the house.

As an American, what she said was true. Americans do tend to be loud. Especially if you're from California/Hollywood, lol. All she was saying was that he was a typical American, loud and annoying. I don't believe she means half the stuff she says. So I don't think I'd ever get offended by something she said.
