Returning this week!

Mokka 16-03-2016 07:17 PM

Looking forward to Elektra

Mokka 20-03-2016 05:34 AM

watched the first 3 episodes tonight...

bit of a slow start... or maybe I am becoming immune to the violence of the show :hehe:
but by episode three I am sucked right back into the story line sans Fisk... who I thought was a wonderfully complex villain and kinda miss now. Not gonna spoil anything for anyone... but still loving this show

Scarlett. 20-03-2016 02:13 PM

Nearing the end now... it's somehow even better than S1

Shaun 10-04-2016 11:14 PM

On episode 2.
That store owner who tried to offer the Punisher kiddie porn

Tom4784 10-04-2016 11:54 PM

What a coincidence this thread just got bumped, I just this minute finished Season 2.

I thought it was great, Season 1 had a great first half but it kind of lost it's way near the end (a sudden change in Showrunner can do that) but S2 is consistently great throughout. Punisher and Elektra were both excellent, Karen's arc was really strong and Charlie Cox has really grown into the lead role. The only part I disliked about this season was Foggy, his character felt like a bit of a spare part.

Shaun 11-04-2016 01:06 AM

I heard mixed reviews about Elektra, apparently the actress isn't great for the part?

Tom4784 11-04-2016 02:20 AM

I thought the actress was pretty good, Elektra's a tough character to nail down and I think played the part well.

Kinda surprised that she got a mixed reception.

Scarlett. 11-04-2016 02:48 AM

This season definately felt more fleshed out, a lot of hints to what might be happening in S3 too.

Shaun 18-04-2016 12:00 AM

So... the prison scene... that certainly wasn't Orange is the New Black :worry:

Ugh, that episode was so good.

Shaun 18-04-2016 02:16 AM

idk that scene seemed way more than was necessary </3 I'm obviously not the biggest fan of gorefests anyway but that was just torture porn.

I'm loving the few episodes after it though.

Spoiler:

The hospital invasion and the zombies :flutter:

I can see why people are falling out of love with the show: S1 was focussed on one very human complex bad guy and he was articulate and charming and interesting and had a history, whereas the whole 'The Hand' stuff is arguably frustrating - no one loves a jump from story to mystery :p - but I've really liked Elektra/Stick's characters and whilst atm - on episode 10  - the Hand come off as a bit of a generic "oooh weird secretive asians" device, I can't help but admit it's still compelling.

Oh and I was wetting myself a bit at Claire being in the middle of all of that :worry:

I liked Season 2 more than 1, S1 lost steam after a few episodes and I think we spent TOO much time with Wilson Fisk that we grew to knew him too well. I think his brief appearance in S2 is far more imposing that anything he got to do in S1.

The Hand are a bit boring, yeah I'll admit that but I didn't really care given that I found the main cast really compelling. The Hand are a means to an end really.

Finished watching this today and it was a pretty good season overall but the first few episodes were quite slow and boring. The prison scene right up until the final were fantastic and the Punisher and Elektra were great additions.

Yeah it dragged slightly in the middle for me, I tapped out for a week or so and then started again, turns out I had tuned out just before the Punisher stuff hit full swing, and I agree that from there until the end was brilliant.

That said, I'm not a huge Elektra fan. Bit whiney...

Just watched the first two episodes of season 3, god I'm glad it's back. Might be my favourite show / franchise on TV at the moment (minus the two that were, thankfully, just cancelled).

If you like DD I wouldn't be too thankful... I think this is a strong indication that Netflix will lose all of the current Marvel shows fairly soon, especially with Disney setting up their own streaming service, and IMO the shows transferring to that as a continuation of their current form is highly unlikely. Much more likely that they'll be rebooted. On the positive side, I would imagine any reboots will be more heavily integrated with the MCU (the netflix shows, it's really just lip service at this point) but on the minus side, they're likely to be less dark / violent than the Netflix shows and TBH I'm not sure they'll carry on Punisher (because of the extreme and realistic violence) or Jessica Jones (because of all the sex and alcohol) at all. Although they might just clean up the JJ character a bit. But yeah... I think the most likely scenario is that JJ will end after S3, Punisher after S2 and DD might get S4 next year to wrap up and that'll be it for the Netflix Marvel. It would be nice if they'd do a 2nd Defenders to wrap up all of their stories (even just a 6 episode one or something) but that seems unlikely.

Scarlett. 26-10-2018 04:35 PM

I can see Netflix keeping The Punisher and Daredevil for as long as they can, I do think JJ is gonna face the axe after S3 though

LukeB 08-12-2018 10:34 PM

Season 3 was amazing

I don't understand why netflix are axing it though :skull: </3

Disney+ is an upcoming online video streaming subscription service owned and operated by Disney Streaming Services (formerly BAMTech), a subsidiary of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International.

The service will launch in the United States in late-2019, and will be focused on film and television content from Walt Disney Studios. Original films and series based on new and existing properties are also planned, including Marvel and Star Wars-based content.

It is set to compete with other video streaming subscription services like Netflix, and will complement Hulu; the launch of Disney+ will coincide with the expiration of a distribution agreement between Disney and Netflix.

Basically Netflix and Disney+ are going to be in (sort of) direct competition as "casual viewers" are unlikely to pay for two separate streaming services. All of the MCU films will be taken off of Netflix and, while they could technically still continue with the Netflix-show MCU as I believe they have the rights to the characters for a few more years, in business terms, Netflix probably doesn't think it's in their best interests to continue to pay for MCU or at least MCU-adjacent shows that could effectively end up advertising their competition.

Brother Leon 09-12-2018 04:26 PM

I highly doubt Daredevil will be how it currently is on a Disney service. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s even a recast, which would be a travesty.

Tom4784 09-12-2018 06:39 PM

Plus Netflix is looking to do content that they own entirely over collaborations. It's why a lot of shows are getting cancelled lately because they're were made in partnership with normal channels and such. Pretty much all the flagship shows that made Netflix what it was will inevitably get cancelled for the same reason.

Only just started this last night. Finding it great tbh. Though quite...torture porny in places. I may just have not much experience with this kind of thing as fighting type stuff isn't really my thing but the fight scenes seem amazingly choreographed? I only started wtaching it as it came up on an ad when I finished something else (shooter, with ryan philippe..which was also surprisingly good!)..I usually turn the ads straight off, so might actually watch them in future as both recommendations that came from that have been pretty decent! Nearly done with season 1 now..which is slow for a binge for me, but I actually slept decently last night which is odd! :D

Scarlett. 06-04-2021 02:28 PM

I hope Disney+ pick it up when the Netflix contract runs out
