Irish here, from roughly the region Mark is from. It is not a racist term here. It has racial origins but hasn't had racist connotations in common usage for over a decade. Personally I avoid the word because of it's history but Mark's usage had absolutely no racial connotations. The word literally doesn't mean member of the traveling community to him, or me.

No I don't believe so. They are both antagonistic. Marc's shows in snide remarks usually to her face, whereas Harry's snide remarks are to other people.
To me bullying is when the person being bullied is afraid of the other person or persons, but Harry shows no sign of this. On the contrary a couple of times lately she has tried to instigate a quarrel. If she is isolated, much of it is her own doing.

You can be offended all you like but that doesn't make it racist. I'm a 5 minute drive from where Mark grew up. I know what the language means and regardless of whether or not you're getting offended by it, it wasn't racist.
