So painting him into a hero figure is too far imo.

100% agree

Well said. Anyway hero's don't chicken out and run.

..no Brian isn't a 'hero', I don't think that any BB housemate of any series could be described as a 'hero'...he is very flawed as we all are and sometimes can provoke/doesn't always have a great reaction to stuff etc...but for me he shows much more of a balance in his character/personality than Helen does in hers..because he at least has shown empathy with some of the other housemates and a respect for their feelings etc..and has shown more boundaries in my opinion in his 'dislike' of someone...even with her 'friends' in the house and the housemate she 'champions'/Marc...she doesn't really listen to him when he tries to tell her that she has gone too far with something she's said...it's always...ugggghh, they're just going for the sympathy/fake tears/going for the magazine deals or whatever, while she herself is cosy in the DR writing her own column and for her own gain and I totally agree with Nikki when she said that Helen's character had been 'confirmed' to her, I think that she always suspects in others what is her own mind's priority...when she says...oh, they're just reacting for that reason of gaining public attention, it's not because those people are but because that's the foremost focus and thing on her own mind ....

....no, no making out of there being 'heroes' in the house, I agree... but when someone is targeted with the venom and spite that Helen has shown with Brian and yeah maybe 'bullied' even at times/and in any 'real life' similar situation...I just don't personally go with the .....hmmmm, well actually...they're not really that great themselves all of the time in some things they do either....

I can't say I have seen Brian be aggressive - angry yes but I think quite rightly so - to me people that are not fans of confrontation will take so much of what people say and then the upset gets too much and they must speak up. Being antagonised and egged on by Helen his poor blood must have boiled and he snapped and had to shout but I don't see him as being overly aggressive just very upset.

Bearing in mind last nights HL show (the one with the god awful murderer & rapist comments from Helen) how can that compare to Brain saying Marc & Helen were like the de-mentors from Harry Potter! Even his comments towards them the language he uses is not OTT hurtful.

..I think this is a great point as well Sue...what his face is often showing is a control of anger and reaction that he knows is being deliberately provoked rather than a control of aggression...and then of course Helen in her lack of any acceptable 'truth/honesty' as she likes to excuse things she says as...just provoked that control of anger with....murderer/rapist type face/look...

In all honesty (to me) Brian actually is a hero, he was the only one who would face up to Helen and Marc, Marc has admitted that he antagonized Brian, and from what i've seen Helen has done nothing but bait, goad and antagonize Brian. There's only so much a person can take:shrug:

The others are so scared of Helen, that Brian probably had to deal with all of them coming to him with their fears and worries, and then he probably felt he had to do something to protect them.

I'm a bit like that if i see nastiness, unfairness or bullying then i feel that it's up to me to stick up for that person, especially if that person can't deal with the situation.

He's a natural protector.

Great post and agree 100%

Brian played his part in all that as much as Helen or Marc,he is no hero,he hasn't fought for his country,he legged it over a BB wall, which imo was always planned to give the show their daily 'Rocking the house',he's a numpty and I really liked him when he went in.

Did you see BOTS last night? it was like Nelson Mandela had arrived, Belo played it like a fine tuned fiddle, puppy dog eyes, sweet and humble ,when hours earlier he would have hit a woman had Danny not stepped in

Brian has dignity and lots of principles...unlike those two neanderthals in the house. Good on him.

seemingly those two were following him around the house all day when he was trying to have some downtime away from them.

wow...just because that helen one says....what would you do if the camera wasn't here, hit me...or something along those lines, does NOT MEAN that brian was about to hit her.

but sure, she planted that thought in your head - run with it - just what she wants. :dog: :cheer2:

You make some incredibly extreme claims based on air. It's quite bizarre.

Yes I did Chuff, and I had to switch off, when Jade was on the phone to him, where do these people get off, and the 'rent-A-audience'...I'm afraid Helen played right into his hands, he played the victim, he knew he would get some bad remark from her, if he pushed it far enough, and as soon as she said it, it was game over, and he was out of there...Not so dumb Mr. Belo...

Was just going to post about this as well - having those two follow you around when you are trying to keep away from them must really wind you up I would have thought, no wonder Brian lost it with them.

lindylou1422 03-07-2015 07:31 AM

I think the producers are invested in keeping their 'legends' as 'legends' even tho Brian clearly has anger issues that are about him, not about Marc, gave him reason to explode. Nicki also demanded to be treated differently and got special treatment, and Helen did not show how she had changed (something she eventually had said last year in the diary room) I think Marc has taken so much abuse from everyone, especially from known masoganist John Mc - he has gained my respect for being able to handle so much vitriol and insult thrown at him. Now he is being bullied, but he is argueing his point, not crying in the diary room

Brian isn't a hero. He is someone as imperfect as the rest of the H/Ms but he has been publicly and "professionally" if not viciously maligned using an old *****'s trick and it's worked very well.

The hero analogies are made to redress the balance of Helen's bigoted and malicious statements.

This board is full of those running with Helen's claims of feeling threatened afraid bullied and creeped out.

Helen probably did feel all of her claims, as Brian shone a very bright spotlight on her behaviour. She should be very uncomfortable and I applaud Brian for exposing even more of the defects in her damaged, fragile ego of a character.

Helen is a coward who brought a shot gun to a fist fight and blasted Brian's guts everywhere.

"So let's not make Brian out to be a hero" but let's not demonize him either .........by running with the cheating hooker's device used to divert scrutiny from her trick turning ways. imo
