I don't think they're intending to be racist towards Shilpa, they wouldn't want themselves to appear that way. Whether they are, subconsciously, is a different matter.

I think part of their bitching/bullying does portray aspects of racism e.g. their imitation of her accent, saying Indian people are so thin cause they vomit from their (/ Shilpa's according to Dani) uncooked food. :rolleyes:

its a tricky one .. i dont know for sure if they are downright racists ( are we talking about Jade, Jack, Daniella, and to a lesser degree Jo?)

But some of the comments directed at Shilpa are borderline racism, and very uncomfortable to watch. As an English white person i find there silly comments hard to stomach. At the very least its childish and nasty.

Being white and of English decent, I cannot speak from experience, but I agree in that, even for me, such comments are at the least, uncomfortable to sit through and are of a snide nature.

Though maybe a more accurate word to describe what is going on is xenophobia... prejudice against foreigners.

Jade, Jack, Danielle and Jo (and Jackiey previously) have picked up on the areas of culture that they are unfamiliar from, and that differ from their own, and used that against Shilpa.

The problems that group has shown are not necessarily to do with race. It's possible that if there was a British Asian person - that was from the same (urban) background and of similar age as them - in the house they would try to get on well with her rather than ostracising her like they have done with Shilpa.

Apparently Jade paid to get her family into the house!

I'm glad someone made this post. No, I wouldn't say he is racist but, neither are Jade, Jo or Danielle, I think this whole issue has been taken way out of proportion mainly cos it is such sore topic.

You cannot say they are racist for mimicking the way she talks, the very first night Jackiey entered the house, Jermaine and Shilpa ran to the bathroom and laughed at the way she spoke.. many a time Shilpa has laughed and mimicked Jade's voice... for example her pronounciation of the word "whale"... If you want to call Jade, Jo and Danielle racist , then you have to be prepared to tarnish Shilpa with the same brush.

Also, in many discussions between Jermaine and Shilpa, they have discussed Jade's "group" as though they are at the bottom of the scrap pile... the only reason they don't get bulletins saying they are racist is because they are more articulate so people don't see it.

Danielle calling Shilpa a dog is not racist, nasty yes but not racist...

Laughing at her bleaching her skin is not racist.. and yes, it is funny, funnier than having boob implants, cos c'mon, how many women bleach their face like that????

For example, the chicken incident... everyone came out of it feeling sorry for Shilpa, why , cos she cried... Jade and co. should have beeen the ones to be upset, they purely gave Shilpa advise, but everyone sort of had the attitude that "how could they know what they're doing".. and went along with Shilpa.. and guess what the chicken wasn't cooked properly.

I don't like Danielle 'cos she licks Jade's ass and I don't like Shilpa , I think the only reason she cries all the time is cos she is used to being adored and respected and being put on a pedal stool and the fact that they don't adore her gets to her.

The reason people don't call them racist is because they are not being racist. They have never said anything even vaguely racist against Jade and Co.

But they wouldn't shut up about it! They went on and on and on and on. After watching last night's show, I have come to the conclusion that Danielle in particular is obsessed with Shilpa - it seems to be the only topic of conversation she talks about. Okay, they made their point - but can't they just give it a rest now? They just want any excuse to have a go at Shilpa - Shilpa went for a lie down, they said she must be sulking. Shilpa was playing table tennis, they said she has a really annoying laugh. She could cook them their absolutely favourite meals, cook it to perfection and serve it exactly how and when they wanted it, and they would still find something to bitch about! Danielle is actually worse than Jade IMO. Jade is stupid and spiteful, but Danielle is just a sheep - all I can see out of Jade's backside is Danielle's shoes.

The difference being that Shilpa did use Dirk's name - her accent made it sound like Duck! Jackiey didn't even try and learn Shilpa's name. She just decided to call her "the Indian" instead.

And I agree, Jade's treatment of Shilpa is down to the fact that she's just a moronic, ignorant little cow. As you say Danielle is a sheep. Jade got on like this the first time she was in the house and her treatment and exclusion of Sophie was what put me off her in the first place. She's trying to something very similar with Shilpa but cos Shilpa is of a different skin colour, the issue of racism raises it's head. I think it's more to do with the fact that Jade is just a stupid, spiteful little girl. She was widely hated in BB3 (before the public felt guilty and decided to like her towards the end) and that was nothing to do with race.

agree but unfortunately many people don't.

Of course it is great that people are willing to speak up against what they believe is wrong, but I just think in this case it has all got blown out of proportion.
