good learning asset? what a load of trolling
texting back and forth with mates , endless distraction turn them off and learn the subjects...theres computers to help with finding information.. |
...well, it's often said...'life skills' is the thing and should be a concentration in schools and there is no more a huge part of life than a mobile phone..so banning them would seem the most dumb thing and would teach nothing of a 'life skill' there..it's more allowing them and teaching when it's appropriate/not appropriate to use it in school...

They should be banned from all classrooms without exception. |

But its only while the Lesson is going They will learn better controlled things on a 10" Tablet given to all kids while is some lessons |

Thats Good they will learn the Rule turn off while Teacher speaks. They will save their power and as some have them for safety going home this is a good thing |

its OK to bump into people. They are not Outright Banned only once the Teacher starts the lesson It makes good sense. |
..it would make so little sense for teachers to spend lesson time, checking if mobile phones are all switched off..so, so little sense...

They turn off in Unity that speeds it up. The Teacher checking is fine |

They will get it in place
and Unity is essential in a Class Mobile Phones will not be banned Only in a lesson. Its the sensible way forward |

... life in the fast lane, Arista....'life lessons' to be taught, not banned.. ...anyways, enjoy your day and happy usage of your mobile phone... |

Yes all schools should get the 10" Tablet bought in massive bulk they cost very little one system that will show kids the right way to go. |

The classroom should be a phone free environment , it should be accepted as such from the beginning . No phones allowed in places of teaching a simple golden rule that would eliminate this problem at a stroke. |

But in some situations it can be a great way of learning. Students are doing more or their own research rather than answering endless textbook questions or listen to their teacher ramble on. It's the same with computers and laptops but why should the schools spend thousands on them when kids have their own phones. If they can be properly monitered then there really is in issue |
They can't be monitored though that is the issue... teachers can't be hanging over the shoulder of every student or sat at the back micromanaging the devices can they? It's unworkable.
|
..well, too much emphasis..(imo of course..)..being placed on the fact that they're phones when they're also a free classroom technology resource/computer as well as being calculators etc..so if they're banned then maybe OFSTED can supply funding to replace that free resource....strangely, an odd concept maybe but most students actually want to learn in their lessons, rather than spend time texting friends who are also in their lessons and wanting to learn/ interested in learning...any student who has no interest in learning at all, then I doubt they would have any interest, whether they had their phones in lessons or not because those phones are not really their 'issue/problem' etc ...that's something that needs addressing separately ....
