I didn't know Aneal was gay until like 4 months ago :joker:

Kenny didn't even identify by his own sexuality bc he pretended to be str8 :joker:

I meant, in terms of all seasons of BBUSA and all seasons of BBUK, so fourteen years worth of Big Brother. But sure, be condescending that makes for great discussion.

EspeonBB 07-09-2015 06:47 PM

Kenny sux. When he came out in an attempt to pander to the Canadian audience  (although Neda telling him he was still getting evicted after <333)

Raph 07-09-2015 06:53 PM

Ah it's crazy how such a beautiful moment to me, can come across as such a calculated moment to some of you.

At that point, he knew he was going home and saw no need to hide his sexuality for the game anymore. So, he wanted to be himself with his houseguests which is a great thing. I mean, if I was in the house I would've done the same thing. As someone who's quite similar to Kenny, I can see in my daily life how when I don't reveal my sexuality, there's a lot more I can get out of various situations. It sucks, but all Kenny was doing was catering to the sexist, homophobic and racist society we live in, by eliminating factors that could've subconsciously harmed his game.

Macie Lightfoot 07-09-2015 06:58 PM

His abhorrent personality was more of a harm to his game than being gay would have ever been

Macie Lightfoot 07-09-2015 07:00 PM

and I'm pretty sure Kenny himself admitted it was a ploy to gain favor with the public? lol

LukeB 07-09-2015 07:01 PM

Kenny was the best male of BBCAN2 imo, he played great game and created such an inspiring moment

Jack_ 07-09-2015 07:03 PM

The endless discussions of Kenny on here baffle me, he's probably one of the most MOTR houseguests on any Big Brother anywhere

He was nowhere near as offensive and narcissistic as Andrew (although being a part of one of the worst BBCan alliance so far didn't help), but he certainly didn't do anything that interesting besides be destroyed by Ika :joker: and I definitely don't remember anything game wise he did that was amazing either

He was just your run of the mill pre-jury fodder. The criticism he gets for his 'coming out' is unfair, but at the same time the lauding he gets is completely unfounded IMO.

There's nothing touching about someone squashing his sexuality 'coming out'. It's like everyone loving Frankie as soon as he came out as Ariana's sister - ain't gonna happen!

Being comfortable enough with yourself to say your sexuality to a nation-wide audience is completely different from saying your sister is a celebrity.

:clap1: The hate he gets on here is unreal. And I agree, if it wasn't for his sexuality/personality thing he wouldn't be a top tier houseguest for me. It was the fact that he personified the housemate I wanted for around 10 years, that made him a top 5 ever tier housemate for me, from the start.

Well it's really not. Both were hated for being vile on the feeds and 'exposed their real selves' to try and get further in the game plus gain sympathy with the public.

What Kenny did was ignorant, in 2014 he really thought being gay was going to be a set back (Andy won the summer before, hello!) so I have zero sympathy or respect for what he did. Being openly gay going into the house and then masking that and getting into a showmance and then 'feeling comfortable' again just doesn't make sense.

Ignorant, really? I mean then i'm ignorant too because I most certainly do see the prejudice attributed towards gay people, as unfortunate as that is. The prejudices just aren't as inherent as those of race but in my opinion are just as apparent as those of gender.

Also, fair he didn't necessarily come out cause he felt 'comfortable', but it does take feeling comfortable to be able to do that. Saying your sister is Ariana Grande is just giving away a secret, not saying something that is inherent to yourself as a person

I don't think a single gay contestant in the BBUSA style format has ever been voted out just on their sexuality though so that's why I never bought Kenny's excuse. I never watched the feeds but from what I've heard he wasn't as nice as the highlights made him out to be either and flipping the bird to Ika and being vile to her shows a fragment of this so I don't like him as a player/contestant etc

I found him and Andrew to be pretty equally offensive tbh. Their reactions to the letters being shred showed a huge amount of entitlement, as did Kenny saying that he wanted to push Heather down the stairs bc she made him a Have Not and he was the only person to not be one yet. As for the criticism he gets for coming out, like I said I'm pretty sure he admitted himself that it was just to try to gain favor back with the public. It was a pointless storyline all around because this is Canada. Gay marriage was legal for a decade at this point, Gary was the face of BBCanada. It's not a big deal over there.

It may have been the most pointless thing I've seen on Big Brother, and it was just a transparent move to garner attention more than anything.

LukeB 07-09-2015 07:29 PM

"I want to push Heather down the stairs" I highly doubt he meant it.. like most people say they want to punch/slap/hit etc to someone but no one means it. just one of those things.

Regardless of whether he actually wanted to or not, it shows his sense of entitlement if he's upset about being a Have Not for the first time after avoiding being one for a month. He wasn't very nice about Heather anyway.
