Trashy

I suppose the breaks could fit in the bits after they talk to the contestants outside of the tent, but it probably won't end up like that at all.

I was more worried about what ITV were going to do with the show, so I'm too fussed right now. Just worried the presenters and judges will change.

Babayaro. 12-09-2016 07:28 PM

Channel 4 is a whole lot better than ITV tbh

Marsh. 12-09-2016 07:30 PM

Aww, shame.

I was hear for "IT'S TIME! TO BAKE! A CAAAAKKKKEEEE!!!!!!" *sets off flour bombs*

Black Dagger 12-09-2016 07:48 PM

How the **** did they pull that off

Rob! 12-09-2016 08:00 PM

So Channel 4 have managed to get hold of the biggest show on television. The BBC must be gutted.

This may just be me being incredibly naive, but I think there might be half a chance that C4 will decide to just forego adverts and replace them with increased product placement, as not to piss off a hell of a lot of people who don't really want the development of Sue's baguettes interrupted by plugs for lovehoney.com

Firewire 12-09-2016 08:02 PM

Davina to host?

I don't think they will but they'll probably air it as a 90 minute episode whereas ITV would cut content

Crimson Dynamo 12-09-2016 08:08 PM

the BBC are a joke, they have no sport, they sold our weather to a sh1t dutch company instead of the Met Office and now this. a fck pathetic joke

MB. 12-09-2016 08:10 PM

Yeah how dare not enough people pay license fees

MB. 12-09-2016 08:11 PM

(well yes I'm kidding but partly. Ask the government and the former culture secretary, they might be able to give you a few answers)

Yet if they forked out a fortune to keep it you'd be the first in the queue complaining about them wasting the license fee. :hee:

Oh wait you hate GBBO you big lezza :fist:

y.winter 12-09-2016 08:18 PM

TGGBO is already C4-esque, so it's the best place to go after the BBC.
I don't see why the audience won't follow it... It has a big loyal fanbase and C4 is not a premium/cable/I-don't-know-how-it-goes-in-the-UK channel, right?

MB. 12-09-2016 08:21 PM

Well yeah but I'd say a good chunk of Bake Off's viewership comprises of middle Englanders who refuse to acknowledge Channel 4 exists/haven't watched it since 1993, so it's not going to reach highs of 15 million again

Ross. 12-09-2016 08:39 PM

not Channel 4 snatching it

Get that relevance :clap1:

Marsh. 12-09-2016 08:43 PM

Here for a Come Bake With Me merge.

There's nowt wrong with the show so they better change nothing!

EspeonBB 12-09-2016 08:51 PM

Lmfao

Considering it's the highest rated show on TV it's a big coup for C4 though

MB. 12-09-2016 10:05 PM

Some other details: bigger offers from ITV and Netflix were rejected (thank ****) and the deal involves 40 hours of Bake Off-related programming a year, aka potentially four series of Bake Off a year, aka ENDLESS BAKE OFF

Nick. 12-09-2016 10:08 PM

Ok but they better not cut the history bit to make up for adverts.

I hope they do, I always mute that part, it's boring. If I wanted to watch a program about history I would do that instead of baking. :idc:

Braden 12-09-2016 10:12 PM

I'm lacking in common sense so can someone explain to me how GBBO costs £25 million a year?

Surely Sue/Mel's and Mary/Paul's fees aren't extravagantly high? The cost of the appliances does add up but surely doesn't come to much. They literally bake in a tent, so I don't understand how that would cost money unless they rent land property. Am I totally getting the wrong idea here? Does the BBC fund all of these things?
