She's cancelled as I found the whole thing a bit suspect.

But he is in fact a gay boy what's the problem?

Is he?

Thanks.

What she said was iffy, but I think there is straw-clutching on both ends of the spectrum here. No vehement homophobia was portrayed, but it's ridiculous to insinuate that the term 'gay boy' is acceptable to use in derogatory form.

Jamie89 04-01-2017 09:19 PM

Re the poll, I don't actually think she should be warned over it, but still unacceptable imo

(the poll options are the wrong way round btw  eg. 'she should be warned' should be next to 'no')

LukeB 04-01-2017 09:19 PM

'gay boy' is one of those words you would hear in the school playground from the people who don't know stuff.

Denver 04-01-2017 09:20 PM

Gay Boy is 100% a slur

Overdramatic (and not in a fun way), argumentative for no good reason, potentially homophobic. I liked her yesterday but she showed quite an ugly personality tonight.

It's quite simple, people are allowed to dislike her without being accused of racism. It's attitudes like yours that actually hinder progress rather than aiding it.

Can a mod edit my poll please

What's acceptable then?

Lostie! 04-01-2017 09:23 PM

I think it's important to acknowledge the difference between "gayboy" as in the insult and "the gay boy" as a description so I didn't really take issue with that part, what confused me was the assumption that someone would care about sharing a bed with a gay guy. And I think the whole "it's a joke" thing was a bit of a backtrack when it became clear nobody else had a clue what she was talking about.

I'm not hindering anything. What attitude are you talking about? If you really want it to improve one person shouldn't stop you from wanting to improve racism.
Speidi were obviously trying to wind her up is she not allowed to be irritated when she's been put in that situation? They were clearly singling her out even Austin said Speidi are distancing themselves from the group but yet they go out of their way to smother the girl that already feels hard done by and emotional over Ray J. "Potentially homophobic" shouldn't even be a thing.

Most of the black rnb community are harsh on gays and I genuinely feel that's where most of her shock came from. Especially those that are big on macho straight image. If I'm wrong so be it but I honestly think that.

That's what I initially thought as well.

Wtf not? Shes the first new star to be seen as a 2 dimensional character, and her second dimension is uglier than the first we saw in the VT. Its obviously worth discussing

Maybe in the next couple days, we'll see her make a few more controversial 'aah, almost got you' type jokes and it will become charming and we'll understand that she was indeed joking.. Maybe in the next few days we'll see her use a more offensive homophobic slur and we'll understand she wasn't joking.

The debate on this is open, lets not pretend that she didnt say this because we liked her yesterday.

What she said was potentially homophobic, or be potentially a joke. Lets call a spade a spade.

This is the part that I noticed. She didn't expect their reaction/confusion so she said that she was being sarcastic. Which didn't really make sense.

Crimson Dynamo 04-01-2017 09:35 PM

if an older straight man had said it he would be gone. shocking double standard s by tibb gay stans of any black woman on bb

The attitude of seeing racism where it doesn't exist and using it to attack people for their views.

She had a piss poor attitude about being picked for the task and she was just using Ray J as an excuse and she distanced herself from others by telling people they couldn't talk to her. It didn't help she was standoffish when there was no reason to be either.

Potentially homophobic is weird. Someone either is or they aren't. If you have to say potentially homophobic that means you're not sure if said thing is actually
Homophobic.
