Sometimes people can make something out of nothing. It is just their insecurities showing through. Sometimes, from people who are not confident in themselves.

PMSL! Just pathetic.
I think everyone has tried to seek attention in their lives. If they say they haven't, they are lying!

I cut myself for my parents attention when I was 13. Not proud of what I did, and I do regret it.

Soph. I admire you for saying that. And you are right. I hope things have worked themselves out.

Lauren 30-03-2007 09:23 PM

I agree Soph, but a lot of self-harm isn't for attention.

Though I reckon everyone has tried some form of attention seeking in their life, even in small amounts.

It was with me though, but I wasn't alright emotionally at the time. It was for attention because I felt that my parents were ignoring me all the time. I was just really stupid.

NEVER cut yourselves people!

Yeah agree with you, getting attention from a family member ain't attention seeking in such away, i think most people have done things to get attention from there mums or dads.

Chrizzle 30-03-2007 09:27 PM

I've slammed doors, screamed etc for attention when I was younger.
We all did it.

Do you have many? Are they still visible?

If you rub tea tree oil on self-inflicted scars they often fade, btw - just a tip

That is what growin up is all about. Takin responsibilities for your actions. Just because someone is older does not make them different from anyone else.Everybody has feelings.

yeah but why attention seek like a child would? makes them pathectic to be honest. I can understand a kid or a teenager attention seeking but adults is bit over the top.

Lauren 30-03-2007 10:25 PM

Attention seekers don't consider feelings of others around them.

lily. 30-03-2007 10:27 PM

Attention seekers are usually selfish people who are only interested in their own problems and their own feelings. They don't care for those around them. As has been mentioned, most people can admit to doing it as a child or a young teenager at some point, but as you get older, most people outgrow it.

Others don't and often end up being neurotic hypocondriacs, or worse.

There comes a time in everyones lives when either you cut attention seekers out of your life or get cut out because your the attention seeker.
Much wisdom can come from many people at times, but, I also notice that when groups form, members of a particular group crave attention, so they stick with that group in order to get their fix.

I use the word, "fix", like a smoker craving for a cigarette, when getting stressed.

Many children do crave for attention and so do adults too.

I would say it is better to accept it and also, it is even better to accept that those who accuse those who may be looking for attention, may also be craving for attention themselves.

Like I said earlier..

yes i hate me! me !me! people too i work with a girl like that and she likes to be the centre of attention at al times. As soon as anyone else speaks she tries to change the sugject and is just not interested in what anyone else has to say :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Mrluvaluva 01-04-2007 01:56 PM

Another kind of attention seeker is one that just goes on and on about the same things all the time. Trying to get your attention about something. But it just becomes pathetic so you end up ignoring it. Quite sad really. They have to talk about the same things as there is nothing else in their life.
