Good move on Le Pens part, it looks kind of shifty though but it's good for her to rid herself of the Front National 'racist' view

MTVN 24-04-2017 08:37 PM

Pretty much all her speeches and campaign literature have avoided using 'FN' and even 'Le Pen' for months now. She has just styled herself as 'Marine' and it's effective

She won't win this election though, she's ~25 points behind in all polls which is not comparable to the deficits that Leave and Trump overturned. Macron will win but I doubt he will be the saviour of globalist, pro-EU politics that people hope he will be

hark at you being all cosmopolitan.... You'd never know you were in favour of England as a secular society :idc:

Macron has zero experience in politics... the guy has a degree in philosophy. France is screwed if either gets in.

Livia 25-04-2017 10:49 AM

There's a huge "Anyone But Macron" campaign going on right now.... and Le Pen has stepped down as leader of her party, just like De Gaulle did. Either of these people getting in is a terrifying thought...

Not sure 'secular' was the word you were reaching for.

You're right I meant insular, thank you.

Deirdre 25-04-2017 06:20 PM

I'd be very surprised if Le Pen doesn't get in

Kizzy 25-04-2017 09:56 PM

Yes,with fascists running the UK and the US the more the merrier.....

Deirdre 25-04-2017 10:18 PM

France is in an absolute dire state. I'm not sure if anybody can save it, so guess it makes no difference

At least she is a lot less likely to get us all killed. Corbyn puts us all at risk with his incredibly naive, reckless and idealistic desire to get rid of our nuclear protection. Yet again he demonstrates how blind and all consuming ideology can be. This view makes him dangerous.

The only ideology the tories have in war and death.... where are the policies for the living and the future?

Ramping up the fear of an attack only creates a nation in a state of high anxiety thus easier to manipulate to their will.

'WE HAVE TO DO THIS!! THEY'LL KILL US ALL!!!'

That's dangerous.

Ah well if you're going to let your personal prejudices cloud your judgement there's no helping you. This image is from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Many of those points can apply to both sides of politics. Labour is far from perfect - as history can endorse. Corbyn is on a planet of his own.

Which ones in particular?
We all know history has it's demons, what about the now?

This thread isn't about Corbyn, if you could temper your irrational hatred for a moment to discuss the issue of a far right extremist group jostling for in a prominence country 25 miles away that would be great.

Maybe I could temper my 'irrational hatred' if you could temper yours.

Yes indeed history does have its demons including when you are whittering on about the injustices of the white race. No cake, no eat.

As far as France is concerned they need someone who will protect their country from terrorism and violence, same as us.

Is hating fascists irrational.... Who knew?

Hey if you are ashamed of our history don't shoot the messenger brillo.

We need fascists...Is that what you're saying?

Can you give an example of one president/prime minister in the world that is capable of doing this?
