If I remember rightly it is because they didn't have a legal dress code in place and that was an agency worker as opposed to a contracted worker. Could be wrong though.

NB - I don't agree with forcing people to wear make up though - just playing devil's advocate from an employment law standpoint

As long as Rebecca makes her dress code clear in interviews she's breaking no laws

Rebecca was just giving an example it seems like, don't know why Sukhvinder disagreed

Wizard. 08-06-2017 05:21 PM

Sukhvindir's been dying to get into a fight lol

Amy Jade 08-06-2017 05:21 PM

I kind of agree with Rebecca and I don't even like her.

Racism is a form of discrimination, all Sukvinder had to do was say there are all types of discrimination not just racism but she seemed to want an argument and she shouted over Rebecca rather than explaining.

(Oh and I don't agree with being forced to wear make up for a job unless it's like on a make up counter and they ask you to wear their products so customers see how it looks etc)

JerseyWins 08-06-2017 05:31 PM

At first I felt like the make-up shouldn't be a criteria for working at the job but then I thought about it.

There are jobs where men are required to cut their hair / shave their beard in order to work there and I automatically see why - it's that business's criteria for a professional look. And many times guys are much more limited in what they can wear for a company's dress code than women are (although probably vice versa as well for this but it's more common for guys to be limited to say slacks/buttoned down shirt/tie every day or whatever).

Anyway, it goes both ways so I guess what a business owner wants from their employees shouldn't be a problem because it's just what they want in their business. The employees have the choice to agree or disagree if they want to work there.

shookvinder is such a mess I hope she doesn't get snatched from the house too soon

rusticgal 08-06-2017 06:19 PM

Racism is a discrimination on race....discrimination can be against any one regardless of race. But if Rebecca said its 'similar' or 'like' racism she's painting a picture and using it as a similarity to explain it.so I can see where she is coming from. It doesn't surprise me Sukhvinder jumped on it. I am sure her husband would have dealt with it better rather than making a big issue over it.
