I would disagree with that tbh Dezzy. I do not understand the obsession with 'older women' on here. The 'cat ladies' are blamed for Kieran surviving evictions for example. Older people just get insulted for not voting the way the forum wants. If Tom wins ( which is unlikely) the forum will explode with 'ahh the catladies voted him as he is hot and they are desperate to see a good looking guy' and so on. I really do not see the need for it. As others have said, it would be unacceptable to make a thread asking, for example, what the hive mind of the LGBT community would do...so why is it ok for this? Its just ridiculous and it has been mentioned so many times yet people continue with the 'cat ladies' 'facebook hags' and so on.

Now I don't think Withano made this thread specifically to be insulting...but it was obvious it would end up this way and I think it really needs nipped in the bud as this is constant in threads. I am not even 'middle aged' (I do own a cat though :D) and I find it really insulting to be quite honest. We have tried all series to stop people stereotyping and such, but it seems to be acceptable to insult older ladies, and I don't think thats right at all.

Tibb I think is mainly young gay men.

Who is actually voting is interesting..I do think its only forum users and such that vote these days. This is why I think Raph will win tbh, as I am positive loads on this forum will vote multiple times for him. Isabelle may snatch it but I can't see Raph finishing any lower than 2nd. Vanessas votes alone will probably put him in 2nd :D

Thank you Vicky, you said it much better than I could.

Isn't this the sole reason a thread like this should be acceptable though? I didn't foresee the backlash, because what you said here is pretty much a fact. And the 'obsession with older women' (for me anyway) is just trying to piece together the fuller picture.
Males and lgbt+ are drastically overrepresented on tibb, but this same demographic would be underrepresented in other areas such as fb or ds. I completely understand why cat ladies should be banned, but we cant pretend an entire demographic doesnt exist. I'm interested in their voice, and I dont think I know what that voice is saying hence the thread.

I do apologise to those offended though.

It's not hard to see that certain types of people tend to vote certain ways

Look on FB or Twitter and you'll see that older women tend to prefer the "nicer and quieter" HMs usually male - like Sam BB14 and Joel BB16
On Twitter you'll see the younger audience - usually male tend to LOVE the outspoken females - like this forum - Chanelle etc

However this series does seem to be an exception to the "older women" stereotype as many supper Debs and Issy

But this is fact not an attack - and doesn't ALWAYS apply (like the stereotype younger girls always love hot males in the show yet AmyJade has flawless taste in HMs)

This constantly happens on TiBB, but the issues should be adressed somewhere else, not in this harmless thread. The point of this thread is to speculate who a certain demographic will vote for, not to bash them for it (which no one has done)

The LGBT example would only work if someone used it to draw negative connotations about that demographic. I don't find talking about demographics to be that problematic otherwise.

As for the 'Cat Lady' comments, I believe if they are targeted at members then they should be infracted but it's silly to have a blanket ban on the phrase when our hands are pretty much tied when it comes to racist views for example.

How do you mean your hands are tied when it comes to racist views?

applauds, I saw Dezzy himself mention that Kieran and Tom would go last night due to the "thirsty" vote even though there is a thread bumped regularly by mainly you Vicky about attacking fans, if moderators can't heed their own rules then there is no hope for anyone else...

AnnieK 28-07-2017 02:50 PM

I guess I could be classed as a "cat lady"....I am over 40 (only just but sob), I have a cat but I am so not in the least bit offended by the term. Sticks and stones and all that. Petty name calling has been going on all season, Snake Boy, silly mis-spelling of names etc so maybe I've just become immune to it

Most people around my age that I know are voting Issy though so hope that helps Withano

I liked neither so I don't like being sterotyped, its incredible that young people are stereotyping in this way I thought the newer generation were a bit more clued in and I find it a shame.

Hmm? Which fans am I 'attacking?' I certainly didn't mention anything about women or fans of certain housemates.

It's pretty much a fact that the fanbase as a whole has been known to favour people on their looks. Look at most Launch nights when a good looking man will get cheers regardless of the contents of their VT, while on the flipside look at HMs like Sue who were booed before we knew anything about her except that she was a black woman.

Can you recall the first highlights show when Tom had to do that facebook chat and most of the responses were among the lines of 'you iz well fit xx'?

It's not attacking anyone to state the fact that some people will vote for HMS that are good looking. It's a proven fact if you look at the results over the years.

Both Sam and Joel were my faves haha, I'm the voice of the older women and I didn't even know it!

I was about to make a very similar point though with the bb17 series.

Compared to other forums, Twitter was shouting a lot louder for Evelyn, TiBB shouted louder for Jayne, Facebook for Jason, and DS for Andy - with Hughie getting love all round, and Georginas family voting Jackson.
They were all shouting similarly on the whole but there were definite spikes for certain housemates depending on where you looked, its silly to ignore that fact.

I think the same can be said for ages and genders, and I think tibb is missing a large part of the standard voter demographic.

And now you've hit the nail on the head. It is missing from TIBB and the reason for that is the constant childish put downs from the younger generation.

Deborah... or Raph.
I don't see why they would vote for Tom.
The only votes Tom is getting is from the crew fans...

Demographics aren't stereotypes, they often come to be as a result of research since they are mostly used for advertising purposes. They aren't meant to be a definitive reflection of everyone but of common opinions and trends within a group.

You don't want to give a straight answer because you have been caught out for the 1 millionth time breaking TiBB rules.
