It sounds well dodgy, you should not be working for cash unless you are desperate, you need to start showing NI payments, the 15 minute break for that length of time working is a pisstake as well.

Tom4784 31-07-2017 12:31 PM

I don't know for certain but I'm pretty sure one 15 minute break for an eight hour shift is probably breaking some kind of labour laws. At my place that's how long a break you get for a 4 hour shift. When I worked at Tesco a few years back, I'd get an hour and half for a 7 hour shift.

Get your money and leave, it sounds dodgy as hell.

He still has to be registered in the paye system whether he earns above his personal allowance for tax or not he would still be paying his national insurance/ registering his stamp which needs to be done legally for future pension reasons.

Not declaring employees is illegal.

I'll be leaving ASAP, just need to get a new job first.

:bored: it's ridiculous, my boss 'had a word' with me the other week for being twenty minutes rather than fifteen too. I literally have to rush outside, have my cig, make myself some food and grab drink (if I'm having any), go into the store room and by the time I've ate usually it's time for me to go back to out.

Daniel-X 06-08-2017 01:26 PM

They turned up girls, but still looking for another job.

Also an 8 hour shift with ONE 15 minute break is trash.
And your wages going missing?

I would quit and find a new job if I were you, especially as you're at college and it's taking up so much of your time.

Yeah this 100%.

Nicky91 06-08-2017 01:32 PM

it wasn't me :joker:

Tell your boss to go and **** themself and find a new job

Daniel-X 08-10-2017 05:14 PM

Got a new job this week so handed in my notice today, I’m on a zero hours contract btw so I can refuse any shift/do not have to work a notice period. My boss called me rude, said I had to work next weekend (I explained I couldn’t and reiterated I’m on zero hours), said I was rubbish at my job anyway and I was lucky to get the job in the first place.

Just thought this would be a cute update on how much of a **** my boss was and how much of a joke this business was.

Daniel-X 08-10-2017 05:15 PM

Oh he also said I shouldn’t ask for a reference from them, he won’t give one for me and was lucky that my current employers (Patisserie Valerie) hadn’t asked for one.

RileyH 08-10-2017 05:16 PM

wow, an actual twat

Tom4784 08-10-2017 05:19 PM

I hope you walked out straight after that and didn't return for any shifts and I hope you dragged him for filth in the process.

Daniel-X 08-10-2017 05:22 PM

I was too shocked and upset to say anything (it was as I was ready to leave) I just walked out and got in the car, but my mum was ****ing FUMING she's gonna go and collect my wages on her dinner one day this week and drag him for filth.

Cal. 08-10-2017 06:00 PM

I'll collect your ****ing wages the ****ing knobhead.

All of this is correct also. I reckon your ex-boss is employing cash in hand off the books, report him and see what he has to say then :joker:.

Will. 08-10-2017 06:30 PM
