I've always said the all-female twist could work if done in the right way.

If I was in charge I would make sure the women chosen were strong, independent types from backgrounds without a male presence. Allow them to build a strong heirarchy for 5-7 days, and then send in the first few males (ideally a douchy sexist type ala Kirk Norcross). The appeal would be how long can the women hold their structure in place and how the male reacts in a social situation they're not used to (being dominated by strong women).

The fear I have is they'll go down the BB8 route and choose women who either destroy the society out of cattiness or those who are weak minded and fall for the male.

I take it you didn’t read the op

in January 2018, as the nation marks 100 years since women won the right to vote for the very first time, Celebrity Big Brother launches this series with an all-female cast of celebrity housemates in a salute to a centenary of women’s suffrage on Channel 5.

Male housemates on the whole have been terrible in the C5 era, plus it eliminates the threat of a showmance.

TBH the only all male reality show that was any good was The Ultimate Fighter.

reece(: 04-12-2017 03:40 PM

You just know they don't care about women's rights, they just want maximum drama which females will provide :fan:

I’m kind of surprised they are doing it since the show loves showmances storylines.

Lesbians can have showmances, just saying. Male housemates haven't been terrible. Some females are overrated

So what if it celebrates 100 years since women won the right to vote?
Are they gonna do one for the end of the apartheid or one to celebrate the legalisation of gay marriage? No.

You have a point but atleast they are adding males at one point

reece(: 04-12-2017 04:00 PM

I'd be here for a CBB full of messy gays.

At least they are adding males but it's not great to just have all female because it's not what BB is mostly about. It's about different sorts of people living in a house together. All female is gonna make the show less interesting and it's unfair to aim at a certain demographic

Yes because a bunch of Brandon Block's make it all the more interesting!

BB is about being a social experiment and the press release says it’s about exploring how all females interact, and as males enter, test gender stereotypes to reveal fascinating truths, which I guess can be seen as an experiment. If they do it right it has potential to be one of the best

I never mentioned Brandon Block so why associate all the males by one?

But this is Channel 5 so will probably not be one of the best because they won't keep their promise on what the premise of the series is

Hm idk, the premise of Secrets and Lies only lasted a week, and that was the highest rated civvy on 5
The premise of Power Trip was kept all the way through, yet is seen as one of the worst

Les just wait and see!

Men are getting added in later on so what's the issue? This will basically be the celebrity version of BB8, so it's hardly revolutionary.

Celebrating women's rights, my arse... They'll turn them against one another at the first opportunity.

luvjustin 04-12-2017 04:36 PM

I’m ok with this. I enjoyed BB8. Its create a new dynamic. Showmances or not a group of women and a slow trickle of men will creat friction.

And sexist? Really? Come on whoever is saying that. It’s 2017 I think the world has swayed in favour of men enough over the past milenia to warrant a little reality having an all female cast.
