The problem is the home office are treating potential visitors and people who are doing the right thing as illegal and in a hostile way. They are treated with extreme suspicion and hostility.

It's not about forcing their way into this country. We have to treat people with respect and with less suspicion when they are making applications.

For instance if someone applies for a visa and you tell them one of their documents needs to be dated this month instead of last month then they should be able to appeal with the updated document rather than having to pay for a new application where they will find some other trivial reason to say no. This is not the person who should be treated with suspicion.

And ALL because - as with Persistent 'Boy Race' speedsters, Benefit Cheaters, Perpetual Motoring Insurance dodgers and other 'Professional' habituals who do not give 2 flying fecks for any laws - those in Authority find it a lot less hassle to target the normal law-abiding person who may be errant via genuine ignorance or accident or NOT errant at all.

EVERY major incentive by this and other Governments all too often succeeds only in hitting the WRONG targets.

In these UNACCEPTABLE cases - the type highlighted by Jaxie - the poor victims are much LESS likely to be hiding behind any expert knowledge of Human Rights or other PC aides and are much MORE likely to be intimidated and become confused by the State actions against them, than are ANY of the I million or so genuine illegal immigrants.

They are MUCH less likely to be swamped with help and litigation funding by certain organisations as well.

This ENTIRE mess is one HUGE disgrace.

It really is a disgrace Kirk and a lot of it should be common sense.

The girl I mentioned who is marrying into my family was incredibly distressed and intimidated by UK immigration on a number of occasions at work and her crime was applying for a visa to visit her boyfriend and his family and being told no.

I was appalled when she told me they had questioned her and again and again and again. She wants to be with the person she loves but she definitely doesn't feel welcome by his country.
