I can only imagine it's a normal type

Mega Evolutions are returning.

LukeB 16-08-2018 06:27 PM

Does anyone know if the contest will be on this game?

I've had Let's Go, Eevee today. It's quite good, it's pretty much a modernised Pokemon Yellow so far.

This really doesn’t look worth getting a switch for <\3 we demand gen 8 with a challenge mode!

Smithy 16-11-2018 04:50 PM

Realised that Gen 8 has obv been pushed back to coincide with the detective pikachu hype

Tom4784 16-11-2018 05:18 PM

I hope they keep some things from this game for Gen 8.

The lack of random battles is heavenly, do you know how good it felt to go through Mt. Moon without having to battle a single wild Zubat? Random battles should stay gone.

I also like having access to the pokemon box on the menu instead of only at PCs. Feels more intuitive that way.

Smithy 18-11-2018 12:03 PM

So whats the overall verdict? yay or nay?

Are there more trainer battles to make up for the lack of wild ones to level up your team?

Scarlett. 18-11-2018 01:04 PM

Really enjoying it so far, just beat Misty :D

Mostly yay.

There's about the same amount of battles as there were before but the exp feels less for trainer battles, instead you get most of your exp capturing pokemon. If you get combos going you can level up your pokemon very quickly.

The only thing that really annoys me about the game so far is the inconsistency when it comes to capturing pokemon, you can land an excellent throw with a pokeball that should capture a pokemon in one and you'll end up wasting five pokeballs on it instead. The motion controls can be iffy at times too.

I'd rate it a solid 8/10 so far.

Does it not make it easy levelling up Pokemon just catching others then?

Scarlett. 18-11-2018 02:10 PM

It's the first Pokemon game that makes catching more and more Pokemon appealing, even more so, now that EXP is shared with the whole party.

It is quite easy and addictive. If you stick with the same six pokemon, you'll be overleveled quickly but I like changing them around so I'm not too overleveled at the moment.

I think overall, it's a nice little stopgap until the next, more traditional pokemon game next year.

Hmmm  I’ll keep an eye out and see if there’s any switch deals over Black Friday or for Xmas :D

It is basically a souped up version of Pokemon Yellow, remember so if you're planning on getting a Switch just for it, you might end up disappointed.

I think it's a great game to get if you already have a Switch but unless you're interested in other Switch games, it's not great enough to buy a Switch for.

I would recommend The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids, and likely Super Smash Bros Ultimate all before Pokemon Let's Go (as well as Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze if you didn't have a Wii U).

rk3388 18-11-2018 05:20 PM

Is anyone finding the trainers way too easy? I am not far, but all the trainers I'm facing only have one Pokemon and they're leveled UNDER the surrounding Pokemon

Tom4784 19-11-2018 01:13 AM

Trainers don't start using more than one until after Ceruleum City but I think the game up until after the second badge is like a tutorial. You can't fight Brock until you show the guy at the gym a water or grass type and you can't fight Misty unless you have a level 15 pokemon but no such restrictions are in place for Surge.

Trainers use more pokemon after you beat Misty and the levels jump up too.

LukeB 19-11-2018 10:37 PM

I just got my first badge and i'm actually loving the game so far. it feels so nice not to battle 5000 Pidgeys and not to spend ages leveling up all pokemon so you're not weak for the gym. I like the requirements for each gym too. I just caught Charmander and Bulbasaur  I would give it a 8.5/10 and i wouldn't mind if they did this for every gen.

I was so set on not getting it but I'm seeing more things and it's making me jealous </3

I think Ill hold out until Gen 8 regardless. I'm sure it'll only expand on everything bar catching (unless it becomes an optional mode)

If you already have a switch and you like Pokemon, go for it.

I doubt Gen 8 will take much, if anything from Let's Go since they've established that they hope 'Let's Go' becomes a bit of a spinoff series. I definitely think they should take at least two things from this game though, portable boxes so you can switch pokemon on the fly and removing random battles.

Scarlett. 20-11-2018 01:34 AM

I'd love a 'Let's Go' game in Johto
