A complete cancellation because BB wasn’t what it used to be.

BBUS only has three shows a week to show the main stuff, I don’t want BBUK to do that, especially with no live feed.

She's the type of housemate thats the reason why big housemates have a bad reputation..

I've just seen though that she deletes all her tweets but I've seen many where she just insults big brother for not calling her... And she does say she will delete her account if they don't call her... Shes said that she can't book holidays incase she gets in house.... She is way more absetesed than me... And her text are written in a crazy way... But she has deleted them now though

I think doing that is actually very immature tbh.

The topic is crap... Its like saying how long do think a piece of string is.. Descusing potentials and there likllynese of getting in is far better but I dont like posting new threads... Whats your thoughts on that lady?

Rob! 04-06-2018 12:49 PM

I think to justify it’s existence going forwards, it needs to be getting at least 1.2m a night :worry:

People are insulting me for being obsessed about wanting to get in the house... I was just bringing in some perspective by showing someone whos worse than I... I'm sure there have been many like her... At lease I have a better reason for wanting to go in..

BB16: 1.4 mil.
BB17: 1.6 mil.
BB18: 1.24 mil.

^^Just so that you all can see the pattern.

So most of the C5 civilian series average between 1.4 to 1.6 million, with BB14 pulling in significant more, and BB18 pulling significantly less, due to the success of Love Island.

Since we all know C5 are avoiding LI, and with the new Creative director, BB19 seems promising...

Though what is the lowest and highest you can see BB19 achieving?

Lowest: 1.0 mil. :skull:
Highest: 2.0 mil. (being optimistic here)

I’m going to consider the fact that the reason for BB18 rating so low was love Island, and therefore terrible scheduling. Launching at 8:30pm, moving evictions to 10-11:30pm on Thursdays etc to avoid love island properly messed up BB18 for good. Since BB19 should be completely avoiding it, they’ll hopefully have a good and much stronger schedule and therefore I don’t think it’ll be possible for it to rate lower than 1.3/4 million.

I think the most it can rate is 1.6 again which is the C5 standard. If something incredible happens like the return of live feed, then maybe 1.8 at a push but I’m not sure it’ll reach 2m.

1.5...
1.2...

Let's be optimistic

How did BB18 average 1.24m... weren’t they pulling in like 400k viewers a night?

No, it wasn't quite that bad. Overnights were averaging in the 800k range, then offical ratings took it's average up to 1.24.

Ratings were around 800-900k overnights so 1.24m official sounds correct/

how do ratings work with things like catchup tv and people who record things on virgin or sky box... and then theres the online views

... so the over night is on the night viewer and the rest is catchup and online?

Overnight ratings count people who watch it live as it airs or within a few hours of it airing (say on pause, on +1 or live online for example) then official ratings add everyone who has recorded it and watched on catch up. For BB18 the average overnight was 865k and then the average catch up was 375k so the official average was 1.24 million.

None of the ratings yet count people who watch on demand (on My5 etc) but that’s changing in September, when they’ll start adding on demand viewers to the official ratings figures which should boost B.B. by a few 100k

How would the return of live feed increase ratings? It’ll probs only be superfans that would watch it anyway :/

For the record I can’t see it possible for this series to go above 2m and i’d say the lowest ratings it could get would be 1m officials.

Word of mouth I guess.

If someone for example comes onto a forum or Twitter and sees a dead feed about the show eg. barely any threads on a forum, the Twitter hashtag being very empty then they'll not be in a rush to watch. It will look bad for those who maybe came back from holiday and wanted to catch up.

Now if you have a 247 feed, more people would be talking about it across all social platforms (word of mouth is the biggest promotional strategy). And that would peak people's interests= word of mouth= slightly higher ratings.

How would viewing figures be added to the total? For example if someone was flicking through the channels would it count as one view or is it a specific amount of time they have to watch?

It’s calculated with how many average viewers are watching. So at exactly 9:07pm there might be 1.245 million watching for that minute, and that average is added to all the other 1 minute averages throughout the hour to give the rating for the episode. So if you look at big tv shows like the BGT final, it averaged 9 million and had a 1 minute peak of 11 million during the results because more people flicked over for that part

JoshBB 02-08-2018 11:40 PM

If it had aired at it's usual time, I would have predicted anywhere from 800k-1.3m to be honest, just because Love Island did so well.

Given that it'll likely air in September now, and shows like the XFactor are not exactly creating much hype, I'd estimate from 1-2.2m. It's a big range I know, but it really depends on how serious C5 is about rebooting the show
