and how many posting on this thread have been to Russia and can speak from experience rather than hearsay?
As a straight bloke who has visited there many times, i have seen many openly gay female and male couples who are perfectly accepted and don't have any issues. That's my experience. Russia is a huge country and there may be problems in some parts, I can believe that, but I haven't witnessed it. |

With your argument we'd have no suffragettes or black civil rights movement |
whilst I admire PT and what he has achieved you also have to realise that holding a WC in Russia will do so much more for this cause as it helps Russians see other cultures and people and opens their minds to the possibility that their way may not be the best.

Russia is beyond redemption under Putin. He rigged the elections, there was evidence on TV for everyone to see! They didn't even bother trying to hide it because they did what they always do... they denied it. Putin's main opponent wasn't allowed to stand, they have MASSIVE problems with organised crime and homophobia is on the rise. I mean... the evidence against Putin is there and yet people are still buying his bullsh*t?!?!?
The World Cup does give the world a window on Russia. What a good job Putin had enough money to make sure FIFA saw it the same way. |
