A diver has died now trying to save them.

If you think it will help lets do it.

I trust more in the professionals trying their best to save them

Brillopad 06-07-2018 11:29 AM

The caves were clearly very dangerous - so who on earth endorsed one 25 year-old taking a bunch of school kids down there, it has cost at least one diver his life trying to save them. I hope this is addressed once they are safely out.

I was wondering the same thing like why did it happen and who thought it would be a good idea !

:clap1:

I haven't read up on details, but I had read about the Navy Seal who drowned.

I've done spelunking in the past and there are always risks no matter how experienced you are. A friend of ours who was trained once got trapped with his friend due to rising water (i.e. rain) and so they had to wait until it leveled off... they legitimately thought they were going to die. Anyway I don't think taking in so many people at once was very wise... it's one thing to have a small group, but then a lot can go wrong with much larger groups... i.e. if someone got injured, who would stay behind, etc? I don't think a school in the US would've allowed it for the liability issues alone.

Well said, Brillo. I thought the same thing when this news first broke. I pray this has a good ending but as you say, questions have to be asked once the boys are hopefully rescued.

The parents of 12 boys stranded inside a northern Thailand cave have written to their children for the first time and to the coach who led them inside, telling him: “Please don’t blame yourself.”

“To all the kids,” one letter, written by the mother of Nattawut Takamsai, 14, said. “We are not mad at you at all. Do take good care of yourself. Don’t forget to cover yourself with blankets as the weather is cold. We’re worried. You will come out soon.”

She wrote to Ekkapol Chantawong, the coach: “We want you to know that no parents are angry with you at all, so don’t you worry about that.”

I think it's premature to blame the coach for anything, it's just feeding into a culture of blame. The marine gave his life to help find stranded people, I doubt he was concerned with blaming the coach for this incident in the first place.

arista 07-07-2018 04:28 PM

Well done the team
that got a long oxygen tube
all the way down to the all of them.

Currently the are saying he lads are not yet fit enough
to come out one by one.

But if the Rain starts again - they should try , I say.

arista 07-07-2018 05:48 PM

Ch4HD news
says they may start taking each lad out , one by one
Tomorrow.

Yeah apparently it's normally fine but the rains started unusually early

Yup, It could just as easily be a case that the rain forced them deeper into the cave rather than them getting in over their heads and stranded.

Brillopad 08-07-2018 07:33 AM

It was irresponsible and someone is accountable that, can’t be denied.

bots 08-07-2018 08:04 AM

it's not really time for the blame game. The rescue is now well under way and should finish sometime this afternoon. Lets hope for the best possible outcome and the least loss of life.

...yeah the least loss of life is all we can hope for with both the rescue team and those trapped...I’m not really a ‘prayer’ person but I do think in times like this when we’re all so helpless as to the outcome...all we can do is to try to feel as much positive energy as we can and try to focus that on those people...which I guess is what prayer is..?...so yes, praying and hoping for the best outcome, maybe a ‘miracle’ outcome of no loss of life and safety for all....

arista 08-07-2018 08:11 AM

There saying 11 hours time for each lad
to get through the murky waters
But the Heavy rain may start tomorrow

THere shouldn’t have been any loss of life is the point though.

The point is that it doesn't really matter at the moment. Kids are trapped and their lives are in danger and saying "well they shouldn't be there" is both irrelevant and unhelpful. They are there. How it came to pass should be looked into after it's all done and dusted - and I'm sure it will be - but it has nothing at all to do with the current situation.

Which is something I said in a much earlier post. But accountability here should not be forgotten. I feel for the man that died and his family as well as the children.

I have long believed that adults that participate in extreme sports or idiots doing stupid obviously risky things for example should not expect someone else to risk their lives to safe them when they inevitably get in trouble. Similar type of thing to the ‘if you can do the crime you can do the time’ way of thinking.
