2. Of course it helps. "Hypothetical examples" are constantly used by everyone across the world, in order to illustrate points and to put things into perspective.

They both have brown skin. He wasn't categorising anything.

Just as if he'd said "May the best man win!" wouldn't have been sexist.

I think the issue is drawing attention to simple remarks about appearance. We don't do it about hair colour.

Edit - "May the best white win!" wouldn't have been racist either.

I agree, but didn't like Ryan's dismissive attitude. It came across as bullying behaviour - shutting down the underdog, as if Hardeep's opinion were less important.
