Just dispelling your myth she does not have blonde hair

what do you want to have a go at now?

The umpire's shoes?

Why can white men get heated and break their rackets without it reflecting badly on the entire group? Athleats getting angry during a game is nothing new, its unfair that serena is being portayed as a monster for losing her rag.

Exactly.

What a messy situation, I don't get the logic of punishing a player for being coached, surely they should just send the offending coach away while the game is ongoing? Punishing the player seems a bit silly.

She should have tried to communicate her point better but I definitely think she got a penalty because she was a woman because male players have been vocal and aggressive to umpires without any kind of penalty. That's a massive imbalance there.

I also think, due to the newspaper cartoon that's went viral, this has become a race issue. She's being painted as the angry black woman when, if she was a white man or a woman, she wouldn't be seen in the same way.

The unfair part though is accusing the umpire of being sexist. Stuff like that has consequences. You can't just throw that kind of accusation out without backing it up.

Call me physic

Just to point out that McEnroe got loads of penalty points during his career, referees were called in etc etc ... and he was a white male

Niamh. 12-09-2018 03:41 PM

McEnroe is a really extreme example though tbf BOTS, he was more famous for his tantrums than anything else. It would be ridiculous to compare him with Serena

That makes a change, it's usually the Brown ones.

I don't think much effort/focus was put into actually drawing a cartoon of the umpire or Naomi. Just on the Serena drawing as she is the focus of the caricature. Much like the Donald Trump ones.

you obviously were not around when McEnroe was vilified in this country, and how he was treated by spitting image

so sorry, your point is not valid

Tbh, the point he made to you is valid.

You defended the point that the drawing DOES in fact look like her, and then defended it for NOT looking anything like her.

Either it does or it doesn't. :joker:

McEnroe is quite entertaining now though in his segment on game, set, mats

Mats Wilander is a good expert for the slam day highlights, discussions before and after the matches, he was full of praise to Naomi Osaka, but he was also quite shocked that Serena had lost the final while she had been playing amazing throughout the US Open now

Crimson Dynamo 13-09-2018 09:45 AM

sigh

yes its just the women players who get the violations and warnings...

Serena did amazing, she's just had a baby and she's 36 years old, it's actually a bit of a compliment to her if you think about it of just how good she actually is when people are saying stupid stuff like she's finished.......when she got to the final.......

and the audience boo's were unnecessary when all they needed to do was to cheer for Naomi, those boo's made her probably a bit uncomfortable there, so also great of Serena saving Naomi's celebrations in her speech :clap2:

she is on the wane and that is the reason for her aggressive tantrum

I expect more will follow as she gets spanked by teenagers more and more?

yes, when she wins she's a fab queen of wta, and when she loses she's the queen of entertainment :clap1:

she now has a 2.100 point lead over the no.2 Wozniacki, so she's doing well getting to that 2nd year end #1 in a row :clap2:

Serena is passed her prime, doesn't mean she is not still an incredibly good tennis player. I haven't heard of her having meltdowns before and this isn't her first ever defeat. Unless it becomes a pattern, we could at this point assume it was a bad day at the office for whatever reason. We have all had them.

Well she did once tell a (female) line judge that she would 'shove this ****ing ball down your ****ing throat' when she was called for a foot fault
