The best character

I finished the second season, I liked it and thought it was generally better than the first but one thing bothered me to no end.

Spoiler:

It's so unrealistic that Maeve wouldn't have a passcode or a fingerprint locking her phone. It really bothered me that Wheechair Penn Badgley just managed to delete the message out of pure plot contrivance.

Amy Jade 30-01-2020 01:55 PM

She had only just put her phone down to go the shop though, most phones take a while to close and lock themselves. I put my phone down without locking it all the time

Amy Jade 30-01-2020 02:00 PM

Was Anwar's boyfriend Lachlan from Emmerdale?

Not shaming him at all but he was quite hot in emmerdale towards the end and he looked a bit bloated in SE

Black Dagger 30-01-2020 03:42 PM

Yeah that was Lachlan!

Babayaro. 30-01-2020 10:21 PM

I'm on episode 6 of the first season and Eric's story is heartbreaking

The actor is great though!

Babayaro. 10-02-2020 05:42 PM

Finished season 2. Best show on Netflix :clap1:

Sabrina got stupid as soon as Zelda stole a baby

Series 3 confirmed :flutter:

This is really bloody good, it might be one of my favourite shows...ever?

I’m angry at the ending though...

Spoiler:

I feel like this show has turned me into a 15 year old girl shipping a fictitious romance but come on, man - enough with near-misses and cliffhangers and spoiled opportunities, just give the audience what they want with Otis and Maeve. You (the writers) can drag things out for too long :(

That storyline is the main reason I ended up binging this in four days :skull: I’m not happy...

p.s. god I miss sixth form

It's so good, right? When I first heard of it I was sure it would be the same as all of the other high school drama shows but it's so different and enthralling!

Can’t STAND that evil wheelchair bastard

It’s frustrating because he’s clearly only been written in to act as another roadblock and facilitate *that* ending. At least the Ola “cliffhanger” from S1 was believable, and helped to develop Otis as a character, this just seems...unnecessary. Unfortunately he’s no doubt going to be around for a while, and I expect S3 will focus on him/Maeve. Sigh.

Also, you could see what was coming a mile off as soon as she put her phone down. A huge eye roll moment :bored:

It really is amazing! It’s FUNNY, sweet, cleverly written, feminist and nostalgic, with well-rounded and three dimensional characters

And it tackles important stories too. Aside from all the sweet Otis/Maeve scenes (of which there are many), the best and most poignant ones have to be the “it’s my vagina” assembly in S1 to the “we’re all getting the bus” one in S2

Amy Jade 03-03-2021 08:01 PM

the bus scene literally made me cry

Black Dagger 03-03-2021 09:21 PM

Otis literally sucks though. I'm sick of Netflix main characters being terrible.

user104658 04-03-2021 11:29 AM

The problem with the phone thing is that it's clearly going to involve unrealistic writing... He'll assume she got the message and be sad she's ignored it, and decide she's not interested.

But... In reals... People miss voicemail all the time. He'd assume maybe she hadnt heard it and at least say tentatively "....... Did you get my message?" and she would say "no what message?" and that whole plot point would be moot.

Think this may be my next binge..just looked up the trailer for S1 and it looks bloody hilarious. Would prob have watched it earlier, if I had not written it off in my head because I figured it would just be another emarassing bodies type program

Which is ridiculous really, writing something off without even looking into it at all, because you make a random assumption about it thats actually totally false D:

I binged it in 4 days. It is VERY addictive

And relatable. I reckon everyone could find a situation or a character and go “yep, I remember that” :joker:

Do you love Ruby, Jack?

She’s okay  “I don’t know who you are” ... “that’s impossible, everyone knows who I am” to the pharmacist gave me a proper laugh, but I can take or leave her. She’s the best of The Untouchables though cos Anwar is a twat

Maeve is my favourite  with Eric and Otis pretty close by. In fact I think my favourite things about this show are: Maeve/Otis’ “thing”, Eric and Otis’ friendship and Maeve and Aimee’s friendship

Amy Jade 24-06-2021 08:05 PM

It's back September 17, 2021

Daniel. 01-10-2021 03:34 PM

Season 3 was probably my favourite season so far and has made Ruby my favourite character.

user104658 01-10-2021 07:42 PM

I thought the fascinating thing about season 3 was the overall underlying theme - a good and very timely one for 2021.

For those that missed it, the theme was balance/moderation/compromise.

Ramsay 01-10-2021 08:22 PM

Haha I actually find S3 the worst of the lot.
Spoiler:

They built up Ruby and Otis which I really liked and was I actually thinking they had the balls to make them endgame as opposed to Otis and Maeve which at this stage is boring as ****. I genuinely feel Otis and Ruby have more chemistry. Ruby REALLY opened up as a character with the introduction of her dad and that.
Then after they break up the writers just forget Ruby exists??
Maeve was the best written character in season 1 and even season 2 but this season I found her awful boring? I was really digging Ruby this season :(
They ****ed up Eric this season, the fact he cheated on Raheem who was a comfortable gay man, for Adam who is not comfortable but is becoming comfortable with Adam this season..he then proceeds to cheat on Adam and blame HIM because HE isn't comfortable with being gay?? Aw they ruined Eric. I'm sort of shipping Adam and Raheem?
That whole fake out on Jean dying was like okay..then the fact that jakub isn't the baby daddy? Too soap opera-y for me

Anyways I have a few more issues I have with this season that will come back to me but those are the main three I didn't like.
Still tho, Fcuk the pain away scene was 10/10
