Boeing has grounded its entire global fleet of 737 Max aircraft after investigators uncovered new evidence at the scene of the fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash.

The US plane-maker said it would suspend all 371 of the aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration said fresh evidence as well as newly refined satellite data prompted the decision to temporarily ban the jets.

Cherie 14-03-2019 07:29 AM

Its a good job the black boxes were found or they would still be flying :idc:

They should have been grounded since Sunday

apparently the plane left a trail of white smoke before it crashed

Some reports are saying its one computer circuit
that if faulty, can not be over ridden
made by a sub contractor.

Some airlines have loads of these planes on order.

The Boeing Team in charge
will have to tell the truth
On 2 planes and all these people
dead due to a cheap sub contractor

and to ignore it so not only one load of passengers were killed but two, and even after the second plane crashed still would not ground their faulty planes

(Bloomberg) -- As the Lion Air crew fought to control their diving Boeing Co. 737 Max 8, they got help from an unexpected source: an off-duty pilot who happened to be riding in the cockpit.

That extra pilot, who was seated in the cockpit jumpseat, correctly diagnosed the problem and told the crew how to disable a malfunctioning flight-control system and save the plane, according to two people familiar with Indonesia’s investigation.
The next day, under command of a different crew facing what investigators said was an identical malfunction, the jetliner crashed into the Java Sea killing all 189 aboard.
The previously undisclosed detail on the earlier Lion Air flight represents a new clue in the mystery of how some 737 Max pilots faced with the malfunction have been able to avert disaster while the others lost control of their planes and crashed. The presence of a third pilot in the cockpit wasn’t contained in Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee’s Nov. 28 report on the crash and hasn’t previously been reported.

mmm a huge company now trying to put the blame on the pilots

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Ethiopian Airlines surpassed many carriers by becoming one of the first to install a simulator to teach pilots how to fly the new Boeing 737 Max 8, but the captain of the doomed Flight 302 never trained on the simulator, according to people close to the airline’s operations.
The people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Ethiopian Airlines had not authorized disclosure of the information, said the carrier had the Max 8 simulator up and running in January, two months before Flight 302 crashed.
Boeing has said that experienced 737 pilots needed little training for the new Max 8, an assertion that has now come under close scrutiny by regulatory officials and pilots at other airlines. Two of the planes have fatally crashed in the past five months, and regulators around the world grounded all Max 8s last week.
The pilot of Flight 302, Yared Getachew, who had 8,000 hours of flying experience including on the 737, took a refresher course on a different simulator in late September and early October, according to one person familiar with the airline, and was not due for another round of simulator training until after the crash on March 10.
It was unclear if the second pilot on Flight 302, the co-pilot, had trained on the Max 8 simulator. Nor was it clear if the airline had used the simulator for refresher courses it requires pilots to take every six months, or only to train new pilots.

Thought these planes were grounded in the US?

They won't be happy until they needlessly kill another plane load of people

A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 being ferried without passengers experienced engine trouble shortly after takeoff, prompting pilots to return to the Orlando International Airport. The plane was heading to Victorville, California.
The plane's No. 2 engine began to overheat after takeoff, after ingesting debris on the runway which caused a buildup of exhaust. Southwest Airlines says the engine did not blow out.

there is an awful lot of cargo type planes in the air, and a lot of them are very dodgy. It may also have been a logistical move, these things don't travel well on the road system

Boeing got Pilots trained via a ipad?
Talk about saving money
Boeing are a Disgrace
2 Planes all dead.

Cherie 04-04-2019 04:36 PM

The crew being absolved of any blame, quite right too. Boeing should be hanging their heads in shame

Nicky91 05-04-2019 09:24 AM

yeah well there has been a silent serial killer in plane crashes before

with rudder malfunction, also couple of planes crashed all dead

the problem back then was, if you push left you'd go right, push right you'd go left

was on air crash investigation at Nat Geo (what i watch most of the time)

the NTSB people have such a tough job, at the crashsite with the horrible smells of burning rotting flesh, sometimes they must use hazmat suits for protection

Yes they trusted the cheap ipad training
from Nasty Boeing.

Loads of this plane are still on order
I am amazed no company has canceled the contract

Trust in Boeing is going down the bog
Airbus selling loads of planes now.
