Just started watching the Strange New Worlds series with Captain Pike and Spock. It's much more true to the star trek concept than other recent series

Yeah?

STD and Picard were such utter dogshit I've lost any faith in modern Trek, SNW is decent is it?

Discovery has an unfortunate abbreviation.:joker:

It also has unfortunate scriptwriters and directors :hehe:

Burnham was actually okay opposite Pike, they had a bit of a Kirk-and-Spock dynamic from TOS. But that only really lasted a couple of episodes, and even then it is was let down by the show as a whole.

While there's no point thinking of tweaks to make it better because it would still have the same creatives ("creatives") they almost had something there - Pike should have been the focus, or at least as much as Kirk was. Like sure, he was the "main character", being the captain and having his Captain Logs as a sort of narration, but it was really a trio of Kirk, Spock and McCoy.

Meh, I could go on for ages how TOS is better than STD.

Tbh before STD, I had only watched DS9 & Enterprise out of the TV Shows and really enjoyed them, but Discovery I only watched Season 1 because it was just too bland for me to want to come back for Season 2 imo.

Basically I could imagine that TOS was a better Show.

TOS sure is better, and while it certainly couldn't be called "bland" it's got a slower style of storytelling per episode, and every episode is a standalone. Also there are virtually no interpersonal conflicts, as in the future humanity has moved on beyond that. All the drama comes from outside, and the situations they're in.

Star Trek Prodigy is so good, for a 110% Voyager fan what i am

Kate Mulgrew still slays as Janeway (double voice role actually, Admiral Kathryn Janeway and Hologram Janeway)

Spoiler:

That Diviner is a great villain too btw

what's it about

a group of alien kids stumble across the experimental USS Protostar
Spoiler:

later revealed was under the command of Captain Chakotay
they use that to escape the mining planet they were held captive and forced to work at

Hologram Janeway mistakes the group for newly starfleet cadets at first, and begins training them

ep All The World's a Stage

WHEW that was a fun one, great throwback to TOS too, also finally how we know what became of Ensign Garrovick from TOS episode ''Obsession''

Spoiler:

The Entreprizians :fan: JamesT, Sprok, Doctor Boons, SuulA   and the Protostars bridge turning into TOS enterprise bridge :flutter:

-----------
ep Crossroads

Spoiler:

Vice Admiral Janeway face to face with the group for the first time, Murf having hatched from its egg, and sitting on the photon torpedo button accidentally :fan: luckily doing no damage to the dauntless but still, ending in a cliffhanger with both Dauntless and Protostar now near the Romulan neutral zone :o

all in all, i am loving this so much, equally as JW: Camp Cretaceous, similarly well made animated take on ST universe, cool action scenes too

also speaking of Camp Cretaceous, we have one voice actress from there too in this one, Jameela Jamil as voice of ''Ensign Asencia''

and former star trek voyager alumni and seinfeld star Jason Alexander as Dauntless's doctor Noum, he was in the voyager episode Think Tank :D

based on Prodigy's popularity, and with also the opportunity being there, of a live action Voyager reunion

could Star Trek: Janeway be the next thing to go for? post-Picard

the fandom also surely wants to know about Tom & B'Elanna's daughter Miral

and tbh the live action series could pick up where Prodigy kinda ended

with the group of Dal, Gwyndala, Rrok, Murf, Jankom travelling alongside hologram janeway

but the real admiral janeway, captain chakotay, the emh on earth

my idea i posted in creative writing https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/for...d.php?t=390954

wouldn't be a too bad concept i think, considering the Voyager OG's are like experts of the delta quadrant

in case certain villains want to salvage the now derelict borg base (post-Endgame, and Picard S3)

and we know Kate Mulgrew is open for returning to live action as Janeway either
