Idk how to word this, but to the female members on here, how does it make you feel when you read stories about women being raped? which is too much of a common thing nowadays. Obviously you're going to feel all kinds of anger/disgust, etc but until now, I've never felt this strongly about a story involving rape, which is probably because I have never been able to put myself into the victim's shoes (female). I'm probably rambling on but this whole thing is just so scary :/

I will tell you how it makes me feel reading men getting raped (and this is in no way trying to take the focus off or making this one feel less important because it isn't) but it makes me feel like women are always believed less or made to feel like they invited it more, even in this one someone enquired if the victims were gay, like if they were it would be less of a rape. . .that's what women feel like

Yeah I've took that from this whole thing too. And I did pick up on the implications of that post, also, which wasn't nice.

He looks so friendly in that Mirror picture, not suspicious at all. Terrifying!

...obviously each story has its differences, so it’s impossible to completely generalise... but it can often make me feel quite despaired, quite deflated...and very, very sad that the judgement on females in things like rape is still not ‘equal’ and nowhere near...I think the sentencing for instance on Reynhard Sinaga is justice being served for the severity of his crimes...his actions have shown his danger to society and he should never be released from prison...but I can’t help but think of the contrast of the sentencing for John Worboys...I know that his parole wasn’t granted a year or so ago...but the original sentencing wasn’t really comparable and the parole board’s initial decision to free him after serving so little time, had to be challenged by the victims...?...that’s something that I find very difficult, as if a female is of ‘lesser value’...I feel that in many rape cases of women being raped, it’s not just the rape that’s on trial...it’s the actions of the woman, the actions of the victim...?...and even in this thread, the expression ‘even straight men’ was used...was that meant to infer that behaviour and actions of non straight men would be somehow open to discussion or scrutiny...?...I guess the differences...(...again a generalisation because I’m rushing...)...are questions that are often asked in male on female rape cases...why did they go back to his apartment/what were they wearing/had they been drinking etc...this is scrutiny given from society, not questions asked in court...

...Babsy, I really thoroughly recommend that you watch the story/case ‘Unbelievable’ on Netflix atm...it really shows how a female victim can be ‘expected to behave in specific and certain ways’ after a rape...and if she doesn’t...?...then everything she is comes into question by the media and sections of society...rape trials..?...are still sadly something which must feel like a second rape...

any violation of another human being, whatever it's form is just wrong

Kizzy 07-01-2020 05:45 AM

How did he only get attacked after 190 rapes?... if you were straight and you came round in a guys house feeling sore wouldn't you lash out? :/
Not victim blaming at all just think he was lucky he wasn't killed years ago for this by a victim.

Marsh. 07-01-2020 09:06 AM

He probs threw them in taxis completely trashed and they woke up at home with a hazy memory of the night.

I'm not sure what being straight has got to do with it? Like that somehow makes you capable of fighting someone, etc. I imagine that many of them would have woke up in a state of confusion or panic, and probably wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

That's natural. Different news story speak to us all in different ways, moreso if we personally relate to a story in different ways. If it's concerning your demographic etc.

Cut his cock off and send him back to Indonesia to live out his sentence. I understand that Indonesian jails aren't so free with the wifi password as they are in British jails.

Zizu 07-01-2020 11:44 AM

Sorry but after learning what he’s done he should do put down .

Well of course, sorry it does read back like the other guys weren't victims too.
Of course any person would feel violated, only the guy who had not been drugged attacked though. After the confusion and panic could come anger?

The David Platt soap story line has everyone thinking he had tried to have him killed for what he did. This was in my mind reading about this case.

Vanessa 07-01-2020 05:46 PM

I was reading about this on twitter. There could be up to 190 victims in a period of about ten years.
Put him in jail and throw away the key. These kind of people never change, they get off on hurting people.
