Who ARE they aimed at? I'm a tory and I voted for Brexit. Are you telling me that "tory scum" is aimed at someone else. Perhaps people should be clear..... or maybe moderate their language.

You did actually...by defending Kizzy comment..

Rather than calling it out for what it was you decided to attack the people calling it out. .

I never said Tory scum though, I just made slightly humorous comments about flagwankery and that the Tories would be better investing money in other stuff

If you guys think harsh words towards a political party is akin to bigotry then you are everything that's wrong with politics.

Too much tribalism and cultish behaviour, people treat political parties like they're football teams. People are fans of parties and MPs and that's ridiculous. Parties are meant to work for the people, they are meant to answer to the people.

You didn't say it, no. You jumped in after having misconstrued the very first line of my post.

There wasn't anything humorous about your flagwankery comment... unless you're referring to the Stalin flags regularly flown at Labour rallies.

I think we've done this to death now, don't you?

Fair enough...but they have to also work for the word scum to be attached to them...and so far this new government has not earned that.

What a waste of bloody money. Crowd fund £500k for something more worthwhile.

I'm actually disgusted anyone would throw money at ****e like this when people are suffering all around the country.

I always thought tory scum was reserved to those politicians who decide, advocate and implement their nasty policies
Dont see you've done anything wrong to earn such censure, Dia.
Flagwankery is a good word
They're trashing the country's standing and expect us to cheer? Let me contain my laughter

Excellent job of missing the point, there.

The Tories have had ten years in power, people are allowed to think badly of them and calling the people in power scum (who have ****ed up so much and has consistently targeted the vulnerable, as tories always do) is incredibly tame.

The whole 'insulting tories is basically insulting me' attitude is just plain wrong, if you aren't a sitting MP, you don't have a reason to be offended.

Practice what you preach if you intend to police the forum!

I was referring to the govt and their inflated costing for this event, it's my opinion, its blunt and you don't like it but you have no right to attempt to censor me.

Don't see the issue tbh, there's no public money being spent on it so if people want to donate to it themselves then that's their choice. It's not like all of us give every spare penny we have to charity or to help the needy so why be so judgemental about what other people spend their money on.

500,000 for some gongs?!

Pay me 500 and I will shout some gongs into a megaphone, that will do the trick. Spend the rest on the NHS, Education or save it towards natural disasters around the world

Livia 15-01-2020 08:43 AM

If they really want this, how much would a few large speakers and a recording of the bells cost?

Kazanne 15-01-2020 08:49 AM

What people want to do with their money is totally up to them , you can't control what some want to do , there are so many ridiculous fund raisers, it maybe a waste of money to some ,but its not our money that will be used unless you donate and I doubt many here will and if you do it's what you wanted ,Many think bells should be rung all over the country, I don't see a problem.

Yeah good point Kazanne. If people are really silly enough to pay money towards it thats up to them. Wish I was as rich as them to afford to spare money like that!
