Thank goodness Corbyn didn't win the election. He would have let terrorists out sooner and said putting them under surveillance was disrespecting their human rights. :worry:

...the man whose condition was life threatening, has now improved..one woman has been released from hospital, the other has very minor injuries which were from shattered glass with the gun shots...hopefully the condition of the man with the more serious injuries will continue to improve...the emotional injuries to them and others who were there and witnessed, will take a lot longer though...

Exactly.

...this completely highlights the legal loophole of what Boris Johnson intended of prison sentences for terrorism...this man’s original offence would not have been classed as serious enough...there will be many like him who are eligible for the same early parole releases....?...surely in highlighting this with what’s happened, it’s an opportunity to review and look at those loopholes, rather than lay blame etc...as awful as it was for all of those involved, it’s thankfully highlighted huge security problems without any loss of life...(..except to the man himself, obviously...)...

Any actions that the government has taken since the election are exactly what Tory voters voted for. They can't pass the buck now.

All this coming from someone that always criticises bringing back the death sentence.

The guy had been released and under heavy surveillance that’s why he ran in a shop grabbed a knife and stabbed two people and was shot and killed very quickly

There had been a change in the law, after this you will see another change.

People like him are released because people like you defend not using the death sentence.

You just like to jump on the band wagon.

Today is the date
the Government is to change the legal parameters
on not letting Terrorists out of Prison early.
Undercover Police were following this Terrorist
so that's why so many were ready for this.

Ammi 03-02-2020 07:16 AM

...they were ready for it but there could have easily been deaths...surveillance is not enough to prevent loss of life, which takes split seconds...so paying huge focus to legal loopholes is so, so important...

bots 03-02-2020 07:22 AM

even someone under surveillance, it is impossible to follow 2000 + people into shops etc and be within striking distance in case they may do something.

They need to be smarter in who they release. Are they still hell bent on being martyrs? Don't release them. I know it has loads of legal issues, but something needs to be done. We have a load of fanatics repatriated from Syria, and this problem is not going to go away.

So many muslims in this country who have nothing but utter contempt and disdain for western way of living, this is just another example.

[The mother of Streatham terrorist

he was a "nice, polite boy"
who was radicalised online and in prison - and
revealed she spoke to him just hours before the attack.
Haleema Faraz Khan said her son
seemed "normal" when she visited him
at a bail hostel on Thursday and
he called her before Sunday's attack
asking her to make him
some mutton biryani.
Amman was under police surveillance

Radicalised in prison is such a cop out. It's like an attempt to create sympathy for these Islamic nutters. Why was he in prison in the first place? Why is this radicalisation allowed to go on in prison? Why if authorities know he's a risk is he let out of prison?

And that video in the cafe is deeply depressing, a police officer walked in and informed the customers and workers there had a been a terror incident up the road, worker was like 'yeah but let the customers eat for 30 mins' and the customers themselves were all 'meh oh well spose we better go then' when really people should have been terrified, shocked, panicked etc. But no, we are so overrun with Muslim terrorists now, and attacks are so frequent that people are used to it and aren't really fazed.

London in particular is a joke, horribly ran by the useless Sadiq Kahn, young black kids killing each other every single day, terrorist attacks common place. People (both sides) putting all they have into arguing about brexit, when what we really need to do address the many problems we have in this country as it is.

the family had a chat channel where they shared videos of beheadings etc, shared info on what knives to use so i think she isn't being entirely truthful.

Cherie 03-02-2020 01:32 PM

He was in prison for sharing some bomb making leaflets on his family group whatsapp, and for posting on some forum an arabic flag, a picture of a gun and some bombs, and encouraged people to attack an LGBT speaker at Hyde Park corner, bearing in mind he was 17 at the time, I fully believe he was more radicalised in prison

Yes, let's paint a whole group of people as terrorists based on the actions of an extreme minority.

Let's reverse it, shall we? Most of the worst murderers in the UK have been white. How would you react if people started treating you like Jon Venebles because you happen to share common physical traits with him?

Blaming all muslims for the actions of a few is as a dumb as treating white people like murderous peadophiles. Both horrendous actions are committed by a minority and it's nothing short of dumb to paint in broad strokes.

Honestly? Attitudes like yours are basically what recruiters use to radicalise people to their cause.

'so many' does not mean 'all'. But there are thousands of muslims under surveillance in this country related to terrorist acts/threats. It's a fact you need to accept.

Also, it's about religion, not race (but yes a large amount of muslims are brown skinned/asian) but someone against area's of religion does not mean they're racist, it's a very narrow minded way of thinking.

Again, 'so many' not 'all' have utter disdain for western way of living, and a few thousand of them take it that one step further and promote/threaten/participate in terrorist acts in the country.

I didn't call you a racist or suggest you were, bit sensitive, are we? Reading too much into it?

I compared generalisations about muslims to potential generalisations about white since I can tell you're white and needed to prove a point about broad strokes.

Many means many, you can spin it how you want but you were talking in broad strokes regardless and you still are.
