Intersex ,Ally & Asexual were added to the long alphabet list.

I saw a program where LGBT people themselves were confused by the long alphabet soup  .

I don't get why any of them need to be added. Intersex, what does being a hermaphrodite have to do with facing discrimination due to your sexuality or gender identity? Ace people don't face discrimination for being ace. And Ally? Why would straight cis people need to be included in the alphabet soup?

And "Queer" is just nonsense.

Why is it? I just thought it was an umbrella term meant to describe anyone who deviates from the norm in a way that isn’t necessarily strictly included in the lgbt acronym

Yeah it has gone a bit too long with unnecessary added letters , it's like they're saying anyone who's different is apart of the community. Being accepting of everyone is one thing but making the list longer is another thing. Non binary is apart of it as well  .

queer isn't an "unnecessary" letter though :skull:

Ally does not need to be on there and the others can just go under the Q if there's no + or their own letters, right?

So is LGBT. That'll do.

I stand corrected - you're right, queer isn't a letter. The unnecessary letter is Q.

GoldHeart 07-02-2020 04:57 PM

I think this is the full list

LGBT+ does the job perfectly

user104658 07-02-2020 05:45 PM

L+?

user104658 07-02-2020 05:46 PM

Gays etc.

user104658 07-02-2020 05:48 PM

Tbf LGBT always confused me a bit. LGB is sexuality, but transexual is NOT a sexuality? Like you can be trans AND straight/gay/bi

Yeah and L and G both mean homosexuality and the other sexualities are further down the list, it doesn't matter, it's still one community being referenced

I mean, given the current clash between the L and T parts, I don't think it necessarily is...

I don't think we should be giving a voice to people who are transphobic. I am sure the majority of lesbians are not like that.

Tea, I’m sick of seeing it framed this way since many lesbians are trans allies

Shaun 07-02-2020 06:46 PM

Sam is already a genderless name

Zizu 07-02-2020 07:41 PM

Why do we actually need all these different classifications ??

Why can’t we all just be people , different people .
