Good to see James finally got on top of that picture-resizing issue.

There's an easy fix for that.

Could it be with the number of celebrities and notable people that have been reported to have tested positive for the virus, that the infection has spread rapidly through the population, and the Oxford University study that suggested 50% of the country have already had it, is accurate?

i think it's accurate. I know quite a few people that were a bit under the weather with unexplained coughs etc, but no fever. It's speculation obviously, but it wouldn't surprise me if these were very mild cases. My brother lost his taste for a few days ... no other symptoms, it's just not a normal event to lose your sense of taste like that without other symptoms

I think a large proportion of public figures having tested positive does indicate a much wider spread. It would be a sensible assumption, anyway.

Well if it's 50% already, what's herd immunity? 70%?

James 27-03-2020 02:32 PM

Here's an article about the 50% of the population theory and one with some expert reaction, so we don't get our hopes up -

'Why it’s too tempting to believe the Oxford study on coronavirus' - https://www.ft.com/content/14df8908-...a-bf503995cd6f

'Expert reaction to unpublished paper modelling what percentage of the UK population may have been exposed to COVID-19' - https://www.sciencemediacentre.org/e...d-to-covid-19/

The trouble is none of us know anything.

But no 10 isn't a house..it's an office, and lots of other people work there :/

Like Doctor Who's Tardis, the property is deceptively large, despite its modest townhouse appearance. Behind the Georgian entrance lie approximately 100 rooms, connected by a labyrinth of halls and corridors – complete with a 0.5 acre garden. Following the death of Count Bothmar, who owned the mansion at the rear of No. 10, George II offered it as a gift to Sir Robert Walpole after the deeds reverted to the crown.

Given a lot of public figures run in the same circles as each other though, it wouldnt take much for it to spread through them

Agree.
A few politicians doesnt make it 50%.

Scaremongering :hehe:

Scaremongering :hehe:

50% having it would be the best news in weeks so more "wishful thinking" than scaremongering.

But I agree that various politicians having it means little as they've been in close contact. There are enough "various" celebrities etc. with it (or at least claiming to have it) to suggest much higher numbers than official cases shows, but then, we already more or less know that to be the case. I think 50% spread is a vast over-estimation obviously.
