Captain.Remy 01-08-2020 02:42 PM

I've read a lot of people say "at least the Chinese government won't have their address"

But like, do they think other social media platforms don't sell data to them already? k then buddy....

The Slim Reaper 01-08-2020 03:09 PM

He's still pissed about his Tulsa rally.

Everybody has rights to use social media platforms everywhere. That doesn't make the Netherlands any better. And trust there are foolish content in your country too, just like in every country.

He can't control Tik Tok like he does Facebook

Denver 01-08-2020 06:01 PM

Banning Tik Tok so close to the election could cause a riptide if the youth decide to punish him in the voting

Denver 01-08-2020 06:01 PM

also he bans tik toks but not guns like which one is more dangerous to everyday Americans?

EXACTLY :joker: He really can't read the room can he...

Tik Tok should be treated with suspicion but this decision is prompted mainly because he got dunked on by a bunch of teenagers on Tik Tok.

[TikTok scrambles to find a buyer
for its US arm to placate Trump
after he threatened
to ban the Chinese app as it's defiant manager
says 'we're not planning on going anywhere'
and 'stand with TikTok']

[Under ByteDance's new proposal,
Microsoft will be in charge of protecting
all U.S. user data, the sources said.
The plan allows for another U.S. company other than Microsoft
to take over TikTok in the United States, the sources added.

Microsoft did not respond to a request for comment.]

The US tik took kids are signing up as community volunteers for the trump campaign, so they send them boxes of trump merch for free, then they're just going to burn it all, which I thought was both admirably petty and pretty funny.

If it isn't bought, it'll be very quickly replaced with a US or Europe based clone. It's pretty massive at this point.

Yet Trump is still seeking to block it, which pretty much confirms that him wanting TikTok gone is less about China and security concerns, and more about "punishing" teenagers for embarrassing him at that rally when they all bought tickets and burned them. Such a sad, petty little man. He will literally ban an app that millions of people use, and destroy a private company, in revenge for a slight on his ego. Really scary stuff.

It could be legally overturned if proved he has banned it out of his own agenda rather than security reasons

Trump's TikTok banning to win him the next election
