It was all worth it then. The deaths, the injuries.... and now the Taliban has taken back the WHOLE country. Personally I'd bomb the place into a car park.

[The Taliban fighters showed off the Humvee they had captured]

[Secunder Kermani
BBC News, Balkh Province:
I point out that the Taliban are the
ones who have started the fighting.

"No," he retorts. "We had a government and
it was overthrown. They [the Americans] started the fighting."

Ainuddin and the rest of the Taliban
feel momentum is with them, and that they
are on the cusp of returning to dominance
after being toppled by the US-led invasion in 2001.

"They are not giving up Western culture… so we
have to kill them," he says
of the "puppet government" in Kabul.

Shortly after we finish speaking we hear
the sound of helicopters above us.
The Humvee and the Taliban fighters
quickly disperse. It's a reminder of the
continuing threat the Afghan air force
poses to the insurgents, and that
the battle is still far from over.]

The Problem is they all have now left,

Ch4News showed some shocking Video
as the Taliban took over yet another town
they dragged a Dead Afghan Soldier along the ground
for all to see.

arista 11-08-2021 06:21 PM

China is now doing Deals with the Taliban.

Reported on TRTworldHD & WION HD news.

Really sad.
The worry where does all go now as to Afghanistan and even other areas.

Ninastar 11-08-2021 07:03 PM

Ehhh, I don’t see this as a good thing really. Great for the soldiers and their families… but not so good for Afghanistan itself. It’s only a matter of time before terrorism spikes again.

These are scary times… and I am not looking forward to it

President Biden
said today
they are on their own.

He started the Pull-Out
all other nations had to follow.

It was an Invasion with no end.
Yes, many Army people fear
Terrorism in the west,
could start again.

What a nightmare for those left there who hoped for a better and safer future.

How can we just walk away after getting involved in the first place.
Whether we should or shouldn't have is now immaterial.

If we're walking away, with it heading to be as bad as when we went in.

No wonder we are not trusted.

All the peace keeping forces wanted out, not just the usa. They had been there for 20 years, if it's not sorted in that trime, it's never going to be sorted. You can't change a country if the people with strength don't want to change

+100

which is why we are the elite, and they are nothing more than a dumb irrelevant third world country

Taliban take 10th provincial capital as Ghazni falls

That is on the way to Kabul.

This is so sad, can't think what the families who had relatives sent out there and didn't return are thinking, it really was all for nothing

Yes Kabul the last place
to stay, for now.

joeysteele 12-08-2021 01:09 PM

The phrase was it,or it was, all for nothing, on this thread certainly seems to sum up the desperately sad state of affairs being left there again now.

This is the result of all the efforts of all the organisations involved in the action taken in Afghanistan.
Virtually nothing changed.

Really awful.

It's really depressing.

The fear so many there must be living in now doesn't bear thinking about.
